Let’s say you want the look of an exposed brick wall in your home, but you don’t actually live in a brick house. That’s ok. There are options. You could try a faux painting technique. Easy on the wallet and … easy on the eyes? Sometimes? Iffy.
B: You could buy some bricks and go to town. Mortar those heavy bricks all over your wall. Good luck. I hope your drywall can take the stress. It probably can’t.
C: You could give up on all your hopes and dreams. Goodbye forever brick wall dream, you were nothing more than a foolish, fevered fantasy.
Or, D: You could try brick veneer! Real brick! But cut into manageable tile-like pieces! Lightweight! Looks real! Smells like … brick probably!
That’s what Catherine and Bryan used in this dining room makeover, and it looks so gosh darn good. And real. Like it’s been there all along. That’s the secret to a successful faux brick wall. You can’t just go slapping them up anywhere you want. It has to make sense, or at least make you believe it does.

It’s the silent star of the show here. Just back there looking all natural and cool. Not even trying hard. This wall is the woman I’ve always wanted to be.
