Christina from Christina’s Adventures wanted to dress up her plain table, but when she told her husband of her idea to paint a medallion on top, he thought it would look gaudy. Bound and determined to prove him wrong, she went ahead and painted a friggin medallion on top, hand-painting two coats, followed by a light sanding and three coats of poly. The results, I think, are so far from gaudy, they’re over the river and through the woods, straight into Awesometown.

June 27, 2011 at 4:31 PMGreat re-do. But I saw in my reader that apparently the adoption blog you linked to caused drama here? Are you serious? I see both posts are gone from your blog now.
First, I’m an adoptive parent and receiving support from my online friends got me through it – it is a hard process! Second, this is your blog. You can write whatever you want here I can’t believe people would express dismay over you posting about something as joyous as an adoption.

June 27, 2011 at 4:34 PMI still like your blog 🙂

June 27, 2011 at 4:42 PMI think it is sad that you felt like you had to delete the adoption post! For shame on all those negative people. I was actually SO shocked when I read all the comments that I didn’t even know what to say! Judge much?! And why does an American baby mean more than a baby born in another country. That is the problem with Americans, they think the world revolves around them.
I’m glad I had the opportunity to drop by their blog before you deleted the posts so I know where to donate.
Don’t let it bring you down, you were doing a great thing and it’s your blog so post what you want!
sweetouch!
June 27, 2011 at 5:03 PMI don’t agree with the previous poster “The problem with Americans” Psshht Ridiculous.. I am too an adoptive parent with two precious little boys and yes one is Mexican, so I’m not blind to the difficulties.. I wouldn’t put down Americans cause they have a preference!!! Plus we should take care of our own in need in this country. Lindsay I didn’t know you post was a controversy?? Oh well I was glad you had it up, jealous in fact! I’d put it back up if I were you!!! Stick it to the man!

June 27, 2011 at 6:18 PMI have been wanting to do something similar to my kitchen table but I haven’t been bold enough to try it because I was afraid it would be a total disaster. After seeing this I think I might just go for it! LOVE the table and I love this blog

June 27, 2011 at 7:20 PMI too was SHOCKED to read all those horribly negative comments. I feel bad that insensitive people caused you to feel bad on your bday, burst that cute couples bubble, and make you feel like you had to remove them. Shame on mean people.
I love your blog! I will always be a reader!!

June 27, 2011 at 8:36 PMOkay, I missed the WHOLE drama and I’m bummed that you felt you had to delete the adoption post. This is YOUR blog, your home, your voice and it must have been horribly upsetting to read negative feedback after sharing your feelings on something so important. Sometimes people just don’t know when to keep their opinions to themselves, don’t you think? 😉 I don’t comment much (at all, really!) but I follow you daily and appreciate all the time and effort that goes into what you do: inspire others and share yourself. Job well done!!

June 27, 2011 at 9:00 PMThis table is beautiful! I think I will borrow that idea! Unfortunately I, and I must be the only one, keep seeing a snowflake when I look at hers, though. 😉
I am a new follower and I love your blog! Loved your birthday entry, too! I only read a couple comments yesterday and was horrified by them. So sorry! Hope you enjoyed your day!

June 27, 2011 at 9:36 PMThat is a GREAT table!!! Awesometown, indeed.
I think YOU are from Awesometown. I’m sorry you had to delete your blog posts. I truly wish that people had to leave their real full names, the way they do on letters to the editor in the paper. Some people get mad at this; some people get mad at that; a lot of people have to get mad at a lot of things to feel alive. I hope you won’t shy away from taking chances in the future. I LOVE your blog — the Afters are so much fun, but it’s the writing that really tickles me!!!

June 27, 2011 at 11:29 PMAnd that is precisely why one shouldn’t bother consulting boys before embarking on a trip to Awesometown. It’s beautiful!

I love this table! I saw it and thought I should do this for Christmas time, because it reminds me of a snowflake. It is beautiful!
