Take a look at this before picture, then take a guess. What will this makeover entail? Splashy new wall decor? Crazy paint treatment? Some furniture rearranging?
There was a kitchen back there! A sad little kitchen, all closed off from the rest of the house, but now it’s open and freeee!
Here was the stove area. I get the sadsies just looking at it. But now the cook can enjoy a view all the way out into the yard, instead of gazing at the microwave and wondering what everyone else in the house is doing.
I also love the deep espresso cabinets all the way up to the ceiling. It’s such a dramatic look. If you’re wondering about the ceiling panels, they were a genius solution for merging the two different ceiling textures without redoing the entire expanse of ceiling.

March 18, 2014 at 8:11 AMElisa, I love your kitchen! Do you recall what the article was on DIY from which you found your ceiling ‘cloud’ inspiration? I’d really like to replicate that idea in my own kitchen! The rolling island tucked into the counter area is a genius idea, by the way! And thanks to Lindsey, too, for her sleuthing the internet for this awesome remodel!

Gen Cottrell: HA, you kill me! Those were candle holders…they did not go back up anywhere 🙂
Peggy: The ceiling idea came from DIY Network’s show called Money Hunters – the Episode is called Knock-out Kitchen.
