Random and Rattan

I found the most random thing of my life at the dollar store yesterday. It’s a book called Mazel Tov, and it consists of photos of celebrities at their bar mitzvahs. Yes, read that again. This is a real book that really exists. Does it get anymore random than that?  I doubt it.

It amused me so much that I started a contest called “Super Random Dollar Store Contest 2014” over on my Instagram.  I would love for you to participate!  Just share a photo of your most random dollar store find either on Facebook or Instagram or Twitter, and use the hashtag #superrandomdollarstorecontest2014, and we will all have a good laugh, and the winner will receive some kind of prize! But seriously, good luck beating my book.

And in makeover news, here comes a rattan dining set that Kammy from  Kammy’s Korner gave new life to, on more than one occasion.  You might hear “rattan dining set” and think “Golden Girls condo circa 1988,” but with black paint and an image transfer technique, the look is as classic as can be.

Wow! That is great! I have one of those couch/love seat, chair and ottoman suites that I have been anxious to get rid of. But not now! Black paint here I come! I like the image transfer, too! The area rug transformation was the perfect finishing touch! Thanks, Kammy! Thanks, Lindsey!

In case anyone out there is dying for their own copy of Mazel Tov, I found it on Amazon. 🙂 Lyndsey got a great deal. The price for a new copy on Amazon ranges from $.01 to $149.30, and Lindsey didn’t have to pay the $3.99 for shipping. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0743287878/sr=8-11/qid=1395258394/ref=olp_page_next?ie=UTF8&colid=&coliid=&condition=new&me=&qid=1395258394&shipPromoFilter=0&sort=sip&sr=8-11&startIndex=10

Great job!! Grandparents everywhere will find their rattan chairs missing, only to have them turn up at the grandkids Thanksgiving dinner.

Ha! That’s too funny, because my grandma actually DOES have a set that I’ve been coveting for a long time!

I must say that is a major improvement over the original chairs. I love the dark colour. Most restorers tend to go for the pink, white or pale blue shabby chic look but yours looks a little better, a more classic look.

    Keep up the great posts.
