My Son’s Bedroom Reveal and SchoolLockers.com Giveaway!

If you were here earlier today, you saw the PANYL makeover of my son’s dresser, which was part of his whole room makeover, which I’m sharing now!  It’s not really accurate to call this a ‘makeover,’ because this room didn’t even exist before.  Not really.  It was just an open loft, which was a bit excessive in a house that already had plenty of living spaces:  a formal dining room, a formal living room, and a large family room.  And only three bedrooms!  Who comes up with these floorplans, I swear. You can click here to see more about turning our loft into a bedroom.

So here we are mid-construction. I swear my house doesn’t always look like a war-zone like this. You can see the pony-walls being sheetrocked over.  They overlooked a nice drop-off to the tile floor below and were easily scalable by curious children, which really limited the furniture placement, and gave me nightmares all the time.  I was so glad to have them gone. And my son was happy to have his own room!

You can just see the closet on the left here.  I wish I had better ‘before’ pictures, but did I tell you how my computer crashed and died a fiery death a few days ago?  This is another friendly reminder to BACK UP YOUR STUFF!

If you are curious, the dresser, desk and train station picture came from IKEA.

The hanging light, desk light and metal side table cam from my sister-in-law Kalli, who hoards amazing vintage treasures and then has a huge sale every few months.  She’s having one now!  Check her out at @decordeals on Instagram for more details.

Artwork is a mix of Ross, Etsy, and the wooden arrow, world map, and curtains I made myself.

And you are probably wondering where that fabulous orange school locker came from.  Well, I hope you were, because it is in fact fabulous, and it can be yours.

SchoolLockers.com provided this locker for my review and offered to give one away to a reader too!

If you’re looking for extra storage with an extra special touch, check them out.  They have a HUGE selection, and offer a variety of colors to match any room or scheme.

And these are truly authentic heavy-duty lockers, built to withstand regular use and abuse.  They’ll totally take you back to your childhood.  You’ll probably have the urge to slip notes to your kids (or yourself) through the vents.  Hey, you know what’s sad?  Most schools have done away with lockers these days!  Your kids might never know the joy of having a real-life locker to call their own.

lockers 2

But SchoolLockers.com won’t let that happen!  They’ve got plenty of options from  home lockers for kids like this one, not to mention industrial and athletic lockers for commercial/educational use too.  I did have to assemble the locker, which wasn’t difficult, but definitely a two-person job.  Consensus: both my son and I love it, and his friends all wanted one too!

Would you like to win a kid’s locker from SchoolLockers.com in your choice of color?

You bet you would!

Love the makeover. Great idea for using that loft space that can be so awkward. Thank you for the locker give-away and sharing the source. I’ve been wanting to buy a locker for my son’s room, and now I know where to get one if I don’t win! I’ve liked you on FB too.

love the color scheme you choose for his room. And my son had lockers in his room when he was young….bought them used from a company cleaning out it’s locker room. He had a fabulous sports themed bedroom with the lockers to hold all of his equipment. Would love to win this one for a friends little boy.

Very cool makeover! That ‘metal side table’ is an old typewriter table…just in case any of you yungin’ was a-wonderin’ 🙂 I had two…just recently sold one. The other is used as a side table in our guest room. I took off the flip-down side (the other side was missing when we bought the table). The thing about these is they’re wonderfully small, and usually have wheels so they fit nearly anywhere. I bet your son loves his new room! Great job!

I love that you are willing to show as much of your before as you do your after. It truly inspires one to know that no matter the present slate….there is a way. Speaking of a way…thanks for making the chance to win a FUN-ctional piece for one’s home. It would certainly be awesome to have as I just started homeschooling my four year old! This would be so fun for her over the next fourteen years! Thanks again!
