The Lath of Least Resistance

If you asked me to make over this table, I probably would have stripped it, repainted it and maybe added a new knob.  No. Let’s be serious. I would have started stripping it and gotten annoyed at how hard stripping is and left it half-naked in my garage for a year.

Not Deb! She had a vision for this simple little table. A deep clean, a fresh new paint job, an added shelf on the bottom, which I didn’t even notice at first because it seems like it was always meant to be there, and the best part, a colorfully planked tabletop made with 29 cent pieces of lath. Love it.  I’m inspired to do something similar, because I’ve got this big stack of old yardsticks that I just don’t know what to do with, but now I do! C’mon Lindsey, follow through!

That is just beautiful! The multi-colored lathes add so much personality to the table. I love it.

    Omg, that is so cute.

Do it with your yardsticks–I’ve been on the hunt for some to re-do the top of my grandmother’s old treadle sewing machine case. No luck finding any locally yet!

Great idea to use the lath. I’ve been trying to come up with some thin cheap wood to cover a table top without cutting down plywood.
