Hoo-boy, I’ve been excited to share this one. As you may know, I am a proud contributing writer over on one of the best sites on the interwebs, Cake Wrecks. All week long Cake Wrecks is a barrage of the most hilariously terrible professional cakes that your eyeballs can handle, and then some. Come Sunday, your eyeballs no doubt need a break from all that wreckage, so that’s where I come in. I write about beautiful cakes and confections in a feature called Sunday Sweets.
But ANYWAY that’s not even the point. The point is Jen, the mastermind behind Cake Wrecks also has a more personal blog called Epbot, where she shares her love of all things girly and geeky and steam-punky. She and her husband John recently gave their laundry room a steampunkified makover, so let’s check it out right now!
What’s that you say? You don’t know what steampunk is? Steampunk is really cool … and really hard to define in a few words. I’m no expert, but here’s a few: Rust. Cogs. Gears. Corsets. Crazy old-timey inventions. Industrial Victorian. A fantasy sub-genre that blurs the lines between the future and the past? Does that help? You’re probably better off Googling that one.
But anyway, here’s how Jen and John steampunked their laundry room:

May 29, 2013 at 10:26 PMHoly Cripes!!! Where to start? Never heard of steampunk but I’m a fan now. That’s some crazy stuff. Also, I had no idea you contributed to that cake blog. I went and looked at it but it stressed me out so much I had to leave. And now i want cake.

May 29, 2013 at 11:11 PMI think Steampunk is fun, but i have to say that what was done to the Vader helmet is nothing but blasphemy. My Star Wars-loving-heart broke just a bit and i cried tears of sorrow. :'(

May 30, 2013 at 2:11 AMI have been in love with the faux tin ceiling since she posted about it. I’ve been trying to decide how to use it in my house.

May 30, 2013 at 2:59 AMUm, I’m a little embarrassed that I compared the two of you as being the funniest bloggers I know…and never put two and two together! ARG! She even said your name and everything and I still didn’t get it.
Well, shame or not–you are both still hilarious and you DESERVE EACH OTHER!! 🙂

The helmet. I can appreciate the do over tis really cool and I love Star Wars!
But…Am I the only one it took a good 5-mins. to realize what I was seeing below the finished helmet. Hahaha.
Ok what is that? Then it finally hit me. Hubby would have known in a heartbeat and he’s not fan of SW’s. 😀
