Black, Black, Black

Come to the dark side today with these three projects featuring … BLACK PAINT! First up is a dresser turned bar by Alice from Once Upon a Dresser. I love that this could be used in so many different ways. Check out her blog to see where it’s stationed now!

And the bookcase turned TV stand from the other day got some rave reviews, so here is another entertainment center repurpose from Ann Marie. She says,

“Our old tube TV died after years of use, and after I did a happy dance that the purchase of a new flat panel TV would now be justified, I started pricing entertainment centers to house a new flat panel. Whew! They are really expensive! Even just a cheap laminate Walmart one could easily be at least $200! The ones that I was drawn to were, inevitably, at least $800.

I knew that I would have to think outside the box to find something that would work, be beautiful, fit my style, and find it on the cheap! I found this old china hutch at Goodwill for $40! I removed the back, the shelves (all except one that I moved up for the DVD player and VCR) and the center brace. I sanded, primed, painted, added new Hobby Lobby pulls, and voila!! I LOVE it, arguably more than DH loves the new flat panel!”

Thanks Ann Marie!

And finally, this lovely buffet redo comes courtesy of Ashley from Decorating Obsessed. It looks so chic all dressed up in black!

Clock n Rock

Here’s a fun little redo by Ashley at Ashley’s Rowhome. She gave a boring white clock a Mondrian inspired redo. (Don’t you think I’m so smart for knowing that? Well, don’t, because it took me like, 30 minutes of Googling to figure it out…)
And I love the rocking chair redo. I know, there’s only so many times I can say “From Drab to Fab!” but that before was pretty much the definition of Drab. Check out her blog for more projects!

Better Fence

Not only was this fence an eyesore, but it looks to me like a bit of a safety hazard! And I don’t know much about how they do things in Texas, but are the oil pipes along the fence there for form or function?

Either way, they had to go, and doesn’t it look lovely? Thanks to Alyssa from Swiss Avenue!

Shelbie Style

Shelbie from My Style My Own took this old bookcase and converted it into an entertainment center. Because who needs books when you have a great big TV? (Totally kidding).
I honestly think it’s a smart idea, and it looks great! Much better to customize something like this with real quality, than to use your money on some cheap particle board type item, don’t you think?

But the projects keep coming! Check out a few of her other before and afters:

A $2.50 Goodwill chair
(you know how I loves a good chair redo)

Love the zebra pillow!

And last but definitely not least, a wonderful kitchen redo. She ordered the cabinets plain and hand painted them herself! She was happy to replace the blue laminate counter tops, and I can relate. Our first apartment ever had bright red counters with dark, dark cabinets and hunter green carpet. Everyday was like Christmas, if Christmas was ugly and depressing.

Thanks Shelbie!

Zen Bathroom

Mrs. Not the Jet Set claims to be, well, not the jet-set, but her bathroom looks pretty hip and happenin‘ to me! I think everything works so well together here, the paint colors, tile, the sink and lighting. I love how the faucet is off to the side, what a smart use of space.
It’s just such a shame that pink toilet couldn’t stick around.
