Cheap Frills

This little shelf project is dear to me! This is what passed as “decor” in my home when my husband and I were very first married! (The sad, plastic before, that is).
I wish I was as creative as Joyce from Cheap Frills back then and could have dolled them up, even on a newlywed budget. She did this on the cheap with acrylic paint, scrapbook paper, and ribbon. She says she’s hoping that “Having a somewhat prettier storage area will assist me in actually STORING things away.”

And here’s another project by Joyce, a breadbox redo! Isn’t it cute? I like the chalkboard insert. I’d probably write something predictable, like “Bread” and then hide chocolate in there!

Ikea Idea

Dawn at Hydrangea Home shows us that it just takes a little bit of effort and mod podge to turn a humdrum Ikea item into a custom piece of decor. What I love about this is that she got her kids to do all the work! I think they did a great job, and they earned $20! What a nice mom! Check out her link for more before and afters!

Coffee Table Collaboration

Sometimes I run… Sometimes I hide … Sometimes I’m scared of you…
I don’t know what I can say about this before other than wow. And maybe even hot damn.
What on Earth possessed someone to make a Kid Rock/Britney Spears coffee table? I repeat, A KID ROCK SLASH BRITNEY SPEARS COFFEE TABLE!
And not even a GOOD one! See the closeups HERE. If you’re really commited to this idea of producing an unholy collaboration between two skanky pop-stars and functional living room decor, than for crying out loud, at least do a good job! What decorating style did this fit in with? Too Drunk to Care?
Anyway, as horrendously bad as the before is, check out that after. *insert heavenly music here* Lindsay from Living with Lindsay truly gave it new life. It’s unbelievably gorgeous! And all for around $40 for materials. (Don’t you worry, she didn’t pay a penny for the actual table, it was a Craigslist freebie.)
 (As well it should be).

Chairs and More Chairs

I thought I’d continue with the chair makeover vibe that’s been a-happening here at Better After this week. So here, for your gazing pleasure, are a bunch of chairs!

I love that these don’t all exactly match! I wish I could pull that off without having a mental crisis. Loving the fall-ish colors on these also, courtesy of Design Sponge.

Brittany gave this old family heirloom a little mouth-to-mouth (uh, not literally) with a revived upholstery job. Looks WAY better!

Moooooove over boring! Say howdy to some Texas-sized fun with this chair redo from Victoria, ya’ll!

***

Sweet, simple, and suede. A hip redo from Britt at Cucumbersome.

Who decided office furniture has to be beige, oatmeal, and bland? I find bland office furniture offensive by its very lack of offensiveness! Redo by Joanie and James, courtesy of Design Sponge.

Oh, goodness. This last one makes me want to weep. Weep hot, salty tears of love and longing. So lovely. Sigh. From Molly at Chairloom.

And I feel like a jerk! This little beauty was hiding in my email inbox and missed the chandelier party! Sorry hun, I guess your invite got lost in the mail! From Whimsy by Victoria.

Whelperdoodles (yes, that is a word I actually say), that’s all folks!
Have a super weekend, and thanks so much to you! Yes you! For subscribing, following, commenting and emailing me your fabulous before and afters. Imaginary hugs and high-fives to you!
