Stair Off!

Ashley from Decorating Obsessed had a simple idea. Rip this dingy carpet runner up off her stairs and enjoy the hardwood. Only, it wasn’t so simple. She soon realized that every step and riser was a separate piece of carpet stapled to the wood about 50 times. She had to pry each staple out one by one with pliers. Her hands cramped into arthritic claws and tears were shed, but she managed to persevere. And THEN there was even more drama lurking underneath! Check out the full story HERE
Luckily, it all paid off and the finished product looks beautiful. Thanks Ashley!

Chocolate Pie

Painting furniture is all the rage these days, but sometimes nothing compares to good old fashioned wood. This here is a pie safe that was Ashley’s grandmother’s.
She switched it around a bit to match her style. I don’t know that that faded, busted down green color was matching anyone’s style, unless they worked for the Forest Service or something. (Like MY grandma did! Hi Grandma! Oh, who am I kidding, I’m quite positive my grandma does not read this).
I love how she used green on the inside, not only does it complement the deep brown nicely, it’s a reminder of the pie safe’s past. Thanks Ashley!

Closet Crafter

Here’s a fun one by Tammy from In Stitches. How many of us would love a craft/project room, if we only had the space? Well, no excuses! If you want something bad enough, you’ll find a way to make it happen!
Here is Tammy’s new craft room in what was formerly a little coat closet. More to see HERE.
Thanks Tammy! And thanks to Karen from Strictly Simple Style for bringing this one to my attention!

Refinished Kitchen

Lisa from Popcorn Served Daily is on a roll! Check out what she and her husband decided to do only days before Christmas:

They had their kitchen cabinets professionally refinished! Merry Christmas to them!

It was previously a lovely kitchen that probably most people would kill to have, (not literally, I hope…) but now the white cabinetry really lightens up the whole room and it looks so custom.

I love how the glaze brings out the details!

Check out the entire process on her blog HERE.

And, with some black paint left over from an earlier project, Lisa attacked this old sofa table and made it look brand new. I love the drawer pulls, they tie in the accessories quite nicely!

Thanks Lisa!

Lou Lou’s Redos

Lou Lynn had a character of a grandmother who was addicted to her Harlequin romance novels. She had stacks and stacks of them, as the story goes, thus the need for many bookshelves. This particular one was passed around, going from room to room and from color to color before Lou Lynn and her husband decided to turn it into a more substantial piece of furniture.
They repainted, added beadboard to the back. What made the biggest difference to me was the new moulding pieces around the cabinets and the crown moulding across the top edge. What a change! Mammy would be proud. Check out the process on her blog Lou Lou.

And here is another of her redo projects. She unearthed this vintage Broyhill chair that had been hanging out in storage, once belonging to a great aunt and uncle. And believe it or not, this was her VERY FIRST re-upholstery job! Nice! Check out more HERE.

Danielle’s Dining Room

Danielle from Transforming Home took $150 and redid her dining room! Can’t hardly beat that! She added some wainscoting, new curtains and a plate display to add a major focal point to the room.
The fireplace was a broken electric model from a different room that she was about to throw out. Then she realized it would look great in here. Which it most definitely does! Thanks Danielle!
