Footstool & Lamp

Help me out here. What is the name of this pink fabric? You know, the stuff that starchy prom dresses were made from in the 80’s? With pink puff-ball sleeves and crinkly material? That’s what this stool was wearing. Not so pretty in pink. Time for a change.
Marianne from Noces de Coton decided it needed a paint job and a welcome into the current decade with some modern but classic fabric. Much better.
Also, check out her lamp redo HERE. It too was rocking a dated glazed look, but now is light and happy! Thanks Marianne!

Bye Bye Birdie

Robin’s egg blue is a pretty shade, just not one I’d choose for the exterior of my home. Better After reader Katie felt the same way, so she rolled up her sleeves and got busy.
She said, “In an ode to girl power, may I just mention that I primed and painted it myself, by hand? I had a love/hate relationship with Sherwin-Williams, to say the least. It made me fall in love with my house all over again.”
 Wow! Thanks Katie!

Kid-chen

Just can’t resist this one. The details are so sweet, from the pretty sink, to the curtain, to the little potholder hanging on the side. Plus, the front door hinges open, to be used like an oven! I also love the ingenuity with the faucet. Look closely, can you tell what it is?
Made by Lauren from Long-Winded Lauren as a birthday present for her little girl, and submitted by her mom, Beverly. How 100% sweet! Thanks for sharing!

Island Takeaway

The Fabric Floozie (oooh, scandalous!) had a nice, spacious kitchen. Maybe even too spacious? What it needed was an island. But where can a kitchen island be found on the cheap? How about on the side of the road, for free?
Yep, she took this discarded little cabinet and added a substantial chopping board top, new knobs and a fresh coat of paint to make the perfect kitchen island for her space. And don’t forget that cute little curtain, they don’t call her the Fabric Floozie for nothing!
 Check it out HERE.

Julie’s Hutch

Doesn’t matter how many china hutch redos I’ve seen, I still love them all like they were my own. Here’s a great one by Julie at The Richest of Fare. The previous home-owners had left this hutch behind. So she gave it a new paint job and for an extra touch, removed the doors for a nice open look.

A couple of years ago, if I had inherited something like this, I wouldn’t have DREAMED of keeping it! And now I cruise Craigslist all the time looking for one of my own! Thanks Julie!
