Chair Superpost!

Buckle your safety harnesses, because it’s chair-overload-o-rama-a-palooza time!

First up is another great redo from Shelley at Slipcovers by Shelley! Green damask, I heart you!

Megan at Meg and Mum’s transformed a trio of ho-hum chairs into loveliness cubed. I’m diggin the birds! A lot more before and afters over on her blog too.

Ronda went with red to add some pizazz to her croffice…which I think is what you get when your office and craft room have a baby. See it on her blog Little Mills Kingdom.

Debbie added her signature style to this old chair as a gift to her mother. Isn’t she sweet? Maybe someday my daughter will make me chairs too instead of wiping her nose on me, which is what I usually get. I love the combination of fabrics here.

Heather from Tallgrass Design took a reupholstery class and came out with this beauty for her final. I give it an A+!

Jennifer from Always in Wonder took her first stab at reupholstering and recovered this heavily tufted chair with a simple lavender velvet. Looks great with the wicker insets removed, amiright?

“If beds can have skirts, when why not chairs?” Chelsie probably thought to herself right before she made this most adorably girly chair.

She remade this one too!

And here is the grand finale from Karen at Redoux, who lovingly redid this chair with layer after layer after layer after layer of silver spray paint. Supposedly it should not only last but age nicely too! Well done everyone! Take a bow! Or a seat!

Don’t need no credit card to ride this train.

If I could, I would write a song called “The Power of Paint,” and it would be set to the tune of “The Power of Love” (by Huey Lewis, NOT Celine Dion, as if one of those is less dorky than the other), and I would sing it with fervor every time I saw a fabulous makeover, which would be everyday.

Look, here’s one now! From Linda from Burlap and Blue. The little teardrop shaped pulls are most appropriate, because it nearly makes me weep with its beauty. Hmm, maybe I should reconsider Celine.

Kool with a K

Normally I am not fond of super bright colors, my inner beige-queen clutches her pearls and gets a migraine. But how cute is this nursery? Ah love it, ah love it, ah love it! (read that with a Mary Katherine Gallagher voice).

It all comes down to value. Not as in, you know, a measurement of quality, but color value. Where a color falls on the scale between Intensely Obnoxious and Faintly Colorlike. I’d say this lovely lime Lyndsay chose for her baby’s nursery is Just Right. Bright and cheerful without causing corneal burns. Everybody wins! See it on her blog Pink Coffee Photo.

Also, tutorial on the cool DIY artwork over the crib can be found HERE. (Don’t fret, it’s screwed directly into the wall!)

Some Spring in Your Step

Are you buried in snow up to your earlobes right about now? Dreaming of spring, and flitting around grass-covered hills chasing butterflies? Because that’s what I think of when I think spring: butterflies and flitting. And also, pretty, happy colors! Colors the likes of which SJ from Homemaker on a Dime used on her thrift store dressers. Dressers the likes of which were two shakes away from becoming landfill filler. Spring is all about rebirth, after all.

Blast Off!

Holy snot. Is that a … microwave? And I use the term micro loosely. That looks like something that fell off Sputnik’s control panel and caught fire as it reentered the atmosphere. It was time to abort this kitchen!

With the magic of white paint and some blessed post-Roosevelt era appliances, Kiersten launched her kitchen into the present day. Waaay better, I’d say! See more on her blog HERE.

Slipping Away

I’m a little sick of whining about how I can’t upholster, let alone reupholster. It would be nice to do something about it one of these days. Anyone in the Phoenix area want to take a upholstery class with me? Provided it is affordable and you are not a creepy creeper? I’m serious yo.

Or, if Shelley from Slipcovers by Shelley moves nearby, I would probably just use the money to pay her. You can tell she has an eye for detail, notice how the mountain on the sofa seat cushion extends up the back? That’s talent! Sofa can be seen HERE.
