8 In laundry rooms

Laundry’s a beach.

Woah. You guys blew me away with your applications to participate in The Mystery Thrift-Off!  There were waaaay more than I expected! I’m so excited to get started, but also a little overwhelmed at the thought of narrowing down that list of awesomeness.

I can tell you that I’ve already been scouting around the thrift-stores and giggling with maniacal glee at some of my finds.  I hope you guys know what you’ve signed yourselves up for.

But now, let’s kick Monday in the butt by conquering the laundry room. Liz at Smart Girls DIY took control of what little space she had in here by replacing her washer and dryer with a stackable set, then adding shelves, storage, and more storage.

It looks at least three times bigger now! I love all the beachy accents too.  Did you know if you start a wash cycle and close your eyes, you can hear the ocean?

It’s very disappointing, I mean for all we know these could be two different rooms, there isn’t any inspiring idea or great redo of anything, it’s looking at catalog picture pointing, I want one just like that, and there, a dime a dozen trendy laundry room. Also why are the before pictures always much wore in quality and why can’t the after picture ever be from he same angle?

Timea, if you go to her blog post, you can see a lot more pictures and angles of this room. I just try to choose the two that showcase the makeover the very best. I feel like there is a lot of inspiration here! She opened up so much space by stacking her washer and dryer, she built a wall and counter area which added much more storage and also helped hide the electrical and plumbing components. It’s a smart and colorful use of a small space!

It’s a great makeover and she did a LOT of work to transform that room. I love the use of oars as drying racks.

Are you sure that’s the same room?! It looks entirely different! Adding the stacking washer/dryer is fabulous – because it allows space for the rest of the room, now! 😀

Thanks for the feature Lindsey — and on my birthday no less!!! How did you know? The comments about it looking like a completely different room are hysterical. The pictures Are taken from the same angle, the second one is just a little closer up so it cuts off the window. There are definitely a ton more pictures on my blog — it took 8 posts to show all the details. Thanks again!
