Take a long hard look at this before picture, and tell me if you can guess what this room was. It’s really tricky.
That’s right, it’s a laundry room! The washer hookups gave it away, right? That, and perhaps the super huge wallpaper border o’ laundry. Thanks wallpaper border, but I think we can figure things out without your help. Besides, this is a laundry room. As in indoors. There are no sun-dried clothes flapping in the gentle breeze here. That’s like putting outhouse wallpaper in a bathroom. I would not be surprised to find that something like that really exists.
Kelly bid adieu to the border in exchange for some truly useful cabinets and shelves, and a heaping helping of style, right down to the painted linoleum floors. How about that incredible light fixture, eh? Oh, her husband made it, NBD. Sigh. My husband is good at making burritos. So … there’s that.
Much more to see on her blog View Along the Way!

September 2, 2014 at 9:11 PMThe new laundry room is pretty and practical. My laundry room can’t compete. A side note, I remember the borders and coordinating wallpaper of the 1980s. I loved all of it, including the border in this Before picture. That decade was almost as good as the 1970s and shag carpet that we raked. 🙂

September 3, 2014 at 10:38 AMThat stenciling looks great! When I first looked at it, I thought it was wallpaper. It almost makes me want to try it in my laundry room, but I have curtains to put up, so it would probably be too much pattern for a small room. I’m so jealous that Kelly’s laundry room is actually finished. Mine is stalled. I want to paint the cabinet doors with a paint sprayer, which needs to be done outside, so I’m waiting for temperatures to get under 95 degrees.

September 3, 2014 at 8:55 PMI actually have a family member who have an “outhouse theme” bathroom. Sadly, it was done in the last 10 years.

September 4, 2014 at 10:20 PMLOVE the symmetry of the end result. OCD is manageable when everything is in order! 🙂
