Hammer Time.

If you have a severely dated kitchen such as this one, with light-sucking low-hanging cabinets that descend from the ceiling and obstruct the view of everything in their periphery, what are you waiting for?  Take a sledgehammer to those boogers like, yesterday.

“But what about all that storrrrage?!” you might ask.

To which I say, “Storage schmorage! What could you possibly be keeping in those cupboards that is better than glorious light and space?”

“Uh, my collection of commemorative Christmas dishes from KFC.”
(That is a real thing that really exists).

And then we both nod knowingly at each other, and I silently hand you the sledgehammer.

What a transformation! Don't miss this beautiful kitchen makeover at betterafter.net

From Kayla at Love Lucy Girl, who does not actually have any commemorative Christmas dishes (that I know of), but she sure does have a gorgeous kitchen!

Yep, I had that same kitchen a few years ago. Every time you’d get something out of the drawer you’d look up and knock your head on those cabinets! Took out those head-knockers and never missed them! My kitchen still doesn’t look as great as this ‘after’ though. 😉

Oh, that old kitchen was just full of sad. So much better now.

A huge set of funky wooden tableware does not redeem those ugly overhead cabinets that closed off the before kitchen. The open look of the after is MUCH better. I like that Kayla seems to have worked with her original cabinets otherwise–nice to keep them out of a landfill and in good use.

What a transformation! It would have been fun to add some thin strips to the edges to make them shaker style. Looks good tho!
