If you love your TV, but don’t love how it has to be the center of attention on your wall, there are a few solutions for you. I’ve seen TVs hidden behind swinging doors, hidden behind framed artwork, lowered into those special TV hiding cabinets, hidden behind a wall screen or tapestry, and even hidden in a secret compartment in the ceiling that swings down at the touch of a remote.
All of that sounds like a huge pain in the rear. I just want to sit down and watch The Wendy Williams Show intelligent documentaries whenever I feel like it, without any extra hassle.
Kim at Tidbits and Twine has my favorite solution of all: incorporate your TV into a gallery wall. Looks fantastic and interesting, and the TV blends right in. This look works best with a lot of black frames and accessories, obviously to work with the color of the TV. (Unless you happen to be the .001% of the population who has a TV in a color other than black).

January 16, 2014 at 2:39 PMThat’s a great idea!!
We are kindred spirits…I love the Wendy Williams Show….she is a hoot, and I can’t go a day without her. If I miss her in the morning broadcast, I must watch on another channel in the afternoon.

January 16, 2014 at 2:56 PMThat’s cool, so inspired! I’m curious, is something like this budget friendly? I often wonder. These beautiful homes always seem so “simple” to do with such “find anywhere” pieces but when I try to do something similar, it very quickly (like before I even get started!) outstrips my budget.
If you ever get the whim to, I’d love to see what the budgets for these projects run. About 13 years ago there was a show on HGTV where they totally redid an entire room on $100… I never see those kinds of shows anymore (well, I don’t have a TV anymore either!) and I wonder why.

January 16, 2014 at 3:29 PMOne of my favorite gallery walls, (I linked to it at the bottom of the post, it’s by Jaimee Rose) uses a lot of things she already had, special mementos and memorabilia that would normally get stuffed away in a box somewhere. I think she had framed some pages of her grandmother’s journal, and displayed the letter from her husband’s high school letterman’s jacket, stuff like that. If you use things that you already have that are meaningful, and collect the rest over time, I think it could be very budget friendly!

January 16, 2014 at 4:57 PMI love it. I should figure out some sort of gallery wall, or at least something besides my TV being the only thing on the wall!

January 17, 2014 at 4:44 AMThat’s a brilliant idea. I really dislike having our TV so prominent, so will be looking at recreating this. Thanks for the inspiration!

January 17, 2014 at 6:23 AMOn baby names: I desperately wanted to name my son Finn, but husband vetoed. (He was pulling for Thad or Thor- yes, seriously- which I promptly vetoed, so we were at an impasse for a long time. The best naming resource I found online is Nymbler- you input names you like, and it suggests names with similar qualities for you to consider. Kind of like Pandora, now that I think about it. And then I found a link to a graphing tool that uses data from Social Security register to check how popular baby names are over time- so you can make sure you don’t join a name fad. http://waitbutwhy.com/2013/12/how-to-name-baby.html
Good luck! It’s not like you are responsible for choosing how a human being will be known his entire life or anything. ; )

January 17, 2014 at 7:12 AMNice idea, but way too busy. I would remove about 1/2 of the wall decor. Any more than that and it just feels cluttered and chaotic.

January 17, 2014 at 4:06 PMLove it! Especially keeping the ceiling as a contrast as well as a reminder of what it was originally!

January 21, 2014 at 4:07 PMI like this, but it kills me that the TV is not centered. I just can’t handle it. If the TV was centered, I’d probably love it, but because it’s not it’s just a ‘like’.
