Hello there. Thanks so much for stopping by even though I don’t have anything to share today. Actually, I have a LOT to share, but it’s all stuck on my computer which (bad news) went into full-tantrum meltdown mode yesterday and is currently in time-out at the computer-fixer place. Please pray that they can recover it, because I have a ton of stuff on there I’d hate to lose. And consider this your friendly but stern reminder to BACK UP YOUR HARD DRIVE! Right now! Do it!
Anyway, so I’m blogging from my son’s computer, which has none of the programs I typically use to blog, but a lot of Minecraft. If you don’t hear from me for a while, I’ve been sucked into this mystery that is Minecraft.
So while we’re chatting here, let me get a few things off my chest. Like, I suppose now might be a good time to tell you that (good news!) I’m pregnant! “What the whaa?! I thought you were done having kids Lindsey!” you are thinking. Yeah, I thought that too. This was very much a surprise! (And yes, I know how it happens, thankyouverymuch). But we are excited. Baby #4 is due at the end of January, and I’m finally feeling pretty good, as in, I don’t lie face-down on the couch all day and need a nap after climbing the stairs anymore.
And here’s some so-so new: we’re moving. That was also unexpected and unplanned, but we got a good offer on our house, so we are shipping out. And soon! As in … the next week or so. (And I thought summertime was hectic). We aren’t going far, just to another neighborhood down the road, but we will be renting for a little while.
I’m having majorly mixed-feelings about it. Doesn’t help that I’m extra hormonal at the moment either, sheesh. I’m so sad to leave our home now; we’ve worked hard on it over the last five years, and I love our neighborhood. But I’m a teensy bit excited to rent, just because I want to push myself to be creative with trying to make a rental a home, and find some good ideas for making it feel like ‘us’ even though I can’t do anything permanent. Kind of sounds like a fun challenge, you know? So, I plan to be sharing more of what I’m up to on this here blog, and that will be fun too! Who’s with me!? Yay!
As you can see, life around these parts is rather coo coo crazy at the moment, so I will be putting off the Ugly Lamp Contest for another week. I was planning to get it up next week, but it will be the week of August 26th instead. So, there’s still time to get your submission in, although, with the amount of insanely ugly lamps I’ve received thus far, I’m afraid not everyone’s submission will make it into the contest. We’re only taking the top 18 ugliest of the ugly! Can’t wait!!

August 15, 2013 at 7:32 PMCONGRATS!!! How exciting!!!! Can’t wait to see your creative “temp” fixes for your rental!! 🙂
Of course, what a bummer about your ‘puter (been there-so I feel your pain). After it happened to my I started using dropbox (it’s free) to store my pics and other stuff I didn’t want to lose. Just FYI you may want to look into some kind of cloud storage or a “book” for storage off your actual computer. 🙂

August 15, 2013 at 9:15 PMYay! Congrats! Happy baby!
I’m feelin’ ya on the Minecraft thing ( My teenager is OBSESSED with it…. even did his science fair project on it, yes it was a REAL project. I made him prove himself big time before I okay’d the idea! Anyhow, he has a youtube channel nearly devoted to his love of it… Yamin4Studios… totally kid safe 🙂 )
Good luck with the move…. rentals are fun. Air conditioner broken…. again? No problem, “Hey, landlord, call somebody would ya? Pay the bill too, okay?” Yeah, renting is great.
can’t wait to follow the new adventures!

August 15, 2013 at 9:51 PMcongratulations!!! that is wonderful news. after owning for ten years we recently rented for two years to figure some things out and I have to say, it was great! it was liberating to know I wasn’t a slave to decorating and furnishing the house for awhile. at the same time, after that long I was ready to own again and get my creative juices going again. sort of went crazy not being able to paint a room for that long, haha.

August 15, 2013 at 11:11 PMSo much exciting news – I just moved from owning to renting, it is fun to outsource everything at no cost to me :p I am, however, not pregnant, which is a huge great thing to my BF! He hates the thought that we might be/could be… It’ll happen, I keep telling him! Looking forward to more about you…

August 15, 2013 at 11:33 PMYAY!!! Congrats on the pregnancy and I’m SUPER duper excited to see what you’ll be doing with the new place! 🙂 And I’m sorry about the computer. A lot sorry. 🙁

August 16, 2013 at 12:42 AMCongratulations on your pregnancy! A new baby is always a welcome addition. So sorry about your computer, I recently had mine crash, out of the blue, and had nothing backed up! I tried for a month to live without a computer, blogging from my Windows phone. Boy was I glad when I finally broke down and bought a new one.
Renting can be fun, I rent and love it, except I can’t always do everything I want. In a way that works out too as I have saved plenty of money that I would have spent on remodeling if I could have. I have one of the ugliest vanities in my bathroom. I hope you will share some of the before and afters of your rental.

August 16, 2013 at 1:02 AMLong time reader, first time comment(er). I just wanted to wish you congratulations! I am in the same boat as you, just a bit further down the barf strewn path. We found out on New Years Day that we are (SURPRISE!!) expecting our fourth as well and I am anticipating our new arrival any day. I’m glad you are feeling better. As I remind my husband and kiddos frequently: growing a human is HARD!! Congrats on the move as well. It is always fun to purge and start all over in a new place!!

August 16, 2013 at 1:03 AMCongratulations on the new baby! I’m due the middle of January with our third….

August 16, 2013 at 4:12 AMCongratulations, Lindsey! The best way to describe my third daughter is “the answer to the prayer I never prayed”. I had always planned to stop at two, but I had no idea how much I needed that little girl! This baby will make you feel so complete, I just know it!

August 16, 2013 at 1:03 AMBig Big Congrats! On the precious new baby. How sweet! Oh and also on the new house.
Hope your computer doesn’t try to keep all your good stuff…You know how stubborn they can be. 😉
Again Congrats!

August 16, 2013 at 1:17 PMWow! So much news – many congratulations for baby #4. It took 8 months and over 36 viewings for a sale to be agreed on our house – the removals company come in less than a week to pack up the shipping container and go over the seas. We are moving from near London to Brisbane in Australia. We are staying with my parents and then moving again depending on where DH gets a job. We have twin toddlers and it is all HARD! So stressful at the moment, but it will be good. I shall be looking here for inspiration – first for customising a rental house, secondly when we do buy somewhere – to use this wonderful site as a basis for kicking up and customising our new home. Best wishes!

August 16, 2013 at 3:12 PMOH. MY.GOSH!!!!’ Congratulations all around!!! Four kids in the house does feel like A LOT of people but it is nice to be an even number (I mean, that way no one rides on a roller coaster alone. & isn’t that so important?…only to me, huh?). It will annoy you, though, that now, when you eat out at nicer restaurants, the hostess will consider you as a “large party” and it will always take them longer to seat you. Well, at least it annoys me. You will love everything else, though. Cross my heart! Families of 6 are the new trend! 🙂

Congrats on the pregnancy & moving! (I’m getting a little suspicious, though….all “my bloggers” are moving lately. Is this what they do when they’ve run out of material to write about at the old house??) I bet this surprise baby will be an extra special blessing for your family!! August 19, 2013 at 3:43 AMExciting news…! I will love to see what you do with a rental for home-y-ness. We are renting and I constantly don’t feel like we live in a home, but just borrowing someone elses. Especially when the colour scheme is SO revolting and can’t be changed.
