Yard Ahoy!

On the scale of over-grown yards, there’s level one: ‘could use a trim,’ all the way up to level five: ‘shipwrecked in the rainforest.’ I think you can tell which category Brooke’s home formerly fell into.  I keep expecting that star decoration to turn around and wave to me like on Finding Nemo.

But no more!  Brooke severed the seaweed, er wisteria, and started fresh with a new roof, hardy board and shakes on the exterior, and beautiful landscaping that no longer terrifies the neighborhood children. It doesn’t even look like the same house! More to see on her blog Start At Home.

Is that one of those portable fire pits in the before shot??????? I have a real fire pit in my front yard but I have acres and acres of woods and am 2,000 feet from the road.

The new siding, roof, trimmed (gone) wisteria (?) from the front of the house is a huge WoW! The lawn and new trees and flowers are nice, but, as I get older I don’t want a lawn to mow (35 years already) so I’d go for the sustainable plants and rocks like in the original photo (yeah, boo hiss to me). It’s something my father had in his front lawn in Tucson… It is beautiful tho!

First time I’ve commented – love visiting the makeovers!! The reason I am commenting this time…..I like the before better!!! Oops! Unpopular! but with a tidy up and fresh paint job, I much prefer the before.

I cannot believe that that is the same house. Very nicely done!

Fabulous! All of her neighbors need to send her a thank you note. Everyone’s property values just went up. Way up!

I actually really liked the “before” picture! The yard was weird and had character. 😉

I’m afraid I have to say that I like the yard “before.” I can see getting rid of the wisteria, as that’s ridiculously crazy. And, I love what they did to the house. But, they had a beautiful natural garden going and the “after” looks, well, the way everyone’s looks. I feel terrible saying that because, of course, the house and yard look great now. I guess I like overgrown.

I definitely like the before – all those low water, low maintenance interesting plants. With a little trimming up of the vines in front of the house ~ would have been fine!

    Honestly, Before is better.
