Best of 2013 – part two

Did you get a chance to check out my favorite Better Afters from the first half of 2013? Take a gander at those right here.

Today I present to you the rest of the year’s favorites, starting off with …

JULY!  July is always a hard month to narrow down my favorites. It must just be a good time of year for getting out and making projects happen.  But I think the winner is this luscious bathroom from Brit at House Updated. Still crushing hardcore on that penny-tiled wall.

More details on the original post Stinky Pink to Super Chic.

AUGUST brought us the 4th Annual Ugly Lamp Contest, complete with our grand-prize winner: Bacon Barf:

The night-terrors have yet to cease. Luckily, August also brought us one of my favorite little-girl spaces to date: this adorable bedroom from Lynda at Oh So Shabby.  A tad bit easier on the ol’ eyeballs, I’d say.

SEPTEMBER had a stand-out nursery makeover, specifically this teen-room turned baby retreat by Melissa at Living Beautifully.  I’d move into this room myself if I could squeeze into that crib.  And if Melissa didn’t think that was totally weird.

OCTOBER is around the time when the weather here in Phoenix becomes somewhat tolerable and we can venture outdoors again, which is probably why I was drawn to this sweet little poolside shed. Its stunning makeover comes courtesy of Stacey at One Crafty Mutha, who accomplished this look with little more than a circular saw and a stack of reclaimed fence wood.

More to see, including the tragic saga of how I personally came to own the ugliest shed in existence, on the original post Shedding the Shed.

NOVEMBER was not that long ago!  This might be deja vu for you, but it bears repeating: Rafterhouse was one of my favorite discoveries of 2013.  I just had to share some of my favorite interior and exterior makeovers of this local home-flipping company that totally deserves their own HGTV show.

Don’t miss the original post Before and Rafter, and the exterior post More Rafterhouse.

DECEMBER gifted us with the marriage of an unlikely pair: a Target tablecloth and an IKEA dresser.  And what a fine couple they made indeed!  Super inspiring makeover from Kris at Driven by Décor.

Amazing make-over reminders. The Super Chic Sink is fab! The ruffly bedroom made my niece go all gooly and she’s in her 20’s. Never too old I guess. 🙂

Are you on the bandwagon of choosing a word for the year? This year I’m choosing “gifted”. Only instead of thinking of it in a positive way, I’m on a mission to eradicate it from the world. So, just as a refresher, the word “gift” is a noun; “give” is the verb. Something is given to you, not gifted to you.

Other than that small detail, I love your blog. It’s one of my top five favorites, and I always smile when I see it in my reader.

Best wishes to you and your family for the new year.

Haha! I totally support your efforts to eradicate obnoxious words. Mine would be ‘noshed.’ However, we’re going to have to agree to disagree on ‘gifting.’ In my world, any noun can be verbed! 😉

My 14 yr old son just saw the Ugly Lamp contest winner…. he said it was cool.

I’m confused. Very confused. I’m not sure what to make of this revelation. Seriously, someone needs to rescue me…. or him…. I’m not sure he’s fit to be out in public…. and speak at the same time. I definitely feel sorry for whomever he marries. I hope she doesn’t let him decorate their house. That would be …. um, yeah.

Wow. But then again, he did put on his 9 yr old brother’s clothes and didn’t even notice that they didn’t fit…. I’m a failure as a mom. ;P

So great to see the year in review. I’ve been following your blog for over a year and wanted to thank you for all that you do to put this together. I’m amazed over and over at the “creativity on a limited budget kinds of makeovers”! So many talented people out there!

Hope you’re feeling better and the very best you in 2014!

Lindsey! I love this idea of recapping the year and man what a year it was! I have been so busy getting my blog up and running (thank you for your encouragement) that a friend of mine told me that my project was your October pick! I am BEYOND honored, I love your blog and love everyone sharing their creativity! Happy 2014 to all!

So fun to see these all again. They are all fantastic makeovers, but the shed has got to be one of my all-time favorites. It just makes my heart feel smiley.

The August bedroom makeover is probably my favorite of the year. It always makes me think of the movie GiGi. I would gladly have that room as my own.
