>>This post brought to you by Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Voice Control. All opinions are 100% mine.
Friends, the future has arrived.
We may not have hoverboards (yet), or voice-activated housecleaning robots, but Honeywell is getting closer.
They’ve just unveiled their latest home innovation: Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Voice Control.
Do you realize what this means?! Unlike all those lazy home appliances that require you to physically walk up to them and punch buttons, (microwave, I’m looking at you), this thermostat will recognize your voice from across a room and obey your commands.
They call it “far-field voice-control technology,” which can actually break through the noise of a busy household and obey your orders, such as “make it four degrees warmer” or “make it much cooler” or “order me a pizza,” even from across a noisy room. Ok, maybe not that last one.
But what if you aren’t in voice-activation range?
Well, there’s also an app you can use to control it from anywhere through your smart-phone. Of course there is.
I love the future. Now, the only thing that’s left is that hoverboard. And a voice-activated microwave.

October 11, 2013 at 1:51 PMI just moved into a new house and it could DEFINITELY use a new thermostat! I want my super powered thermostat to be able to instantly heat the bedroom floors when I wake up in the morning so I don’t have to frantically look for my slippers!
Tina
October 11, 2013 at 1:57 PMI would ask it to dust for me!
Rose
October 11, 2013 at 2:00 PMOoh, this is so needed in my house! It still has the original early 70s thermostat that was installed. It’s older than me! And I don’t think it’s accurate. I would love to upgrade. It would be fun to wake up and say “make my house a tropical 75 degrees so I can get up and get ready for work without feeling like I live in an igloo.”
Amber
October 11, 2013 at 2:02 PMI wish it would clean my house…and whip up dinner, too!

October 11, 2013 at 2:11 PMThe other morning my husband and I were freezing in bed, neither one of wanted to get out of bed to run downstairs. I would use the app all the time. By the way, I won. My dear husband had to run the stairs.

October 11, 2013 at 3:51 PMIf it had a voice (rather than simply recognizing them) it could deter door to door salespeople. You’d never have drop what you’re doing to tell some guy that you really DON’T WANT your front lawn aerated no matter what kind of a deal he’s offering. Your thermostat can complain to him about how it makes it look like a thousand Chihuahuas have done their business in your yard.
Lindsey @ Better After

October 11, 2013 at 5:31 PMSpeaking to inanimate objects makes me feel awkward. Like the voice commands when you call your insurance…that robot lady with a sexy voice “If you’d like to make a claim say ‘make a claim’…eeeew, makes me nervous. Then the sexy voice always says, “I’m sorry. I didn’t understand you” And I feel dumb. A machine can make me feel dumb. So maybe if the thermostat had a sexy Man voice, I’d like speaking to it.
Dani
October 11, 2013 at 5:35 PM“Make dinner” If I was rich, I’d wish for a cook before a maid. I don’t mind cleaning but I hate coming up with dinner every night!

October 12, 2013 at 12:20 PMI like the “make me cozy” idea. Like, if I don’t want it too warm or too cold, but I don’t know how warm or cold would be too much, maybe I could have it save the room’s temp when I’m perfectly cozy one day, and then all I have to do is say make me cozy, and it will adjust the heating/cooling to replicate that perfect temperature.

Christina
October 14, 2013 at 7:55 AMThermostat, make my house the perfect temperature in each room. Barring that, just being able to tell it to be cooler during the day and warmer at night (hey, it’s getting near to winter).

October 14, 2013 at 8:34 AMThermostat, pick up these toys! Oh, wait that’s the kids’ job. Wouldn’t it be great just to have anything in the house that would *HEAR* my voice from across a room, listen and obey my commands…the first time?! With no arguing or complaining! 🙂 Do you think it would rub off on my kids? 🙂
Gretchen

Emily
October 14, 2013 at 11:36 AMThat’s great! There are so many times when you want it just a little warmer or cooler but don’t want to stop what you are doing. Might lead to some strange household arguments though. “No, Honeywell, don’t listen to him! Make it warmer!”
Chris D.
October 14, 2013 at 11:38 AMYour hands are always full when you leave the house and remember to turn the A/C up or down while you are away. It would be great to be able to do that via voice. Or if you forget the app is there too.
Kara
October 14, 2013 at 11:57 AMI… kind of worry about my thermostat listening to everything I say.
If it would magically clean my house upon command, I wouldn’t care though. 😛

October 14, 2013 at 12:00 PMWell, this is a fun game! “Thermostat, please clean the kitchen floor.” “Thermostat, will you bring me some popcorn?” “Thermostat, someone’s at the door!”
Actually, what would be really neat is if it just responded to comments without commands. “Is it warm in here?” and down 2 degrees. Guests would be amazed and perplexed!
Carrie
October 14, 2013 at 12:19 PMLike all of those above, I really wish my thermostat could clean my house!

Kayleigh
October 14, 2013 at 1:19 PMI would just love it’s because I hate going downstairs to turn it up when it’s freezing. I would just be able to stand at the top of my stairs and tell it to turn up. Butt if I could tell it to do anything g, it would for sure be laundry!!
Lisa S
October 14, 2013 at 1:37 PMI already have this…it’s great!!! I just yell, ‘Hey honey, open the window!’…and he does it. We have radiant heat in the ceiling, and open the windows for the cool night air when it is warm. We live in a beach community and the ocean breeze blows nicely in when the windows are open.
Melissa

Jeri
October 14, 2013 at 1:56 PM“Thermostat, please keep the house toasty warm at -40 this winter, but without the nearly $4/gal heating fuel bills!” January can see a $1200 heating fuel bill and $500+ electric bill because of 21 hours of darkness. One can dream.
Kelly R.

Norienne C.
October 14, 2013 at 3:38 PMI suspect my thermostat has a poltergeist controlling it. I’d love it if my thermostat would just stay set to the temperature I set it to, rather than spontaneously drifting up and down a few (or more than a few) degrees.
Malena
