Teri’s Tin Roof

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, (mostly because I’m not that creative): if you’re going to do a ‘theme,’ do it all the way baby. Commit to it! Like Teri here, who skipped right past the paint aisle at Lowe’s and went straight to the industrial roofing section instead.
She just moved into a farm home that she says “already had lots of charm, but now we are in the process of making it our dream farmhouse!”
It might not be everyone’s cup of tea for sure, but I say Bravo! Thanks Teri for being unafraid to do what you love!

Checkered Past

Tonya knew she hit the thrifty jackpot when she scored this chair for $4. Everything was in good condition, other than that checkered fabric in everyone’s favorite non-stylish color, forest green.
So she recovered it herself, and if the finished product isn’t the cutest chair you’ve seen all day, then… I don’t know, you’re probably lying. Check her out on her blog Lovin‘ the Moments. Thanks Tonya!

Nell’s Tale

Nell Ann! Don’t torch your house just because it’s a little bland! Get the gas can off the front lawn for crying out loud and go pick up some paint instead! While you’re at it, get some new shutters and some pretty bushes and next thing you know, you’ll have a beautiful home, not an arson felony!
Seriously though, it looks great, and there is much more to see (including the lovely landscaping redo) over on her blog Domestic Indecision. Thanks Nell Ann!

Sunnier Sun Room

Well this before room sure had ‘character.’ Big ol‘ vent in the middle of the ceiling instead of, you know, a light, scary wood paneling broken up by an even scarier panel of fake brick. And also that hanging decorative thingy totally reminds me of Emilio’s horrifying bikini from Project Runway.
Danielle felt the same about this room that, despite all appearances, was supposed to be a sun room. She liked the added square footage, but it was a bummer of a room and she was seriously considering ripping it all out and putting a deck there instead.
Then a baby came, and realizing this extra space could function as a great playroom AND a sun room, she went that route instead. Now it is happy and bright, and all is right with the world. Thanks Danielle!

I’m nuts for this hutch!

Suppose I was cruising Craigslist and spotted this beauty. I would probably stop the world to get that thing. Doctors appointment? Can’t make it, something came up. Parent teacher conference? Sorry…uh, family emergency. Bleeding from the head? Flesh wound, no big deal.

Shelbie from Making it Mine is the lucky lady who owns this hutch. She did her own spin on it by removing the doors and shelves for a more open display and gave it a soft distressed gray treatment.
I think it looks great, but I also think those doors were so beautiful, I wish they had stuck around!
Thanks Shelbie! Check out her blog for more HERE.
