Adios 80’s

Rule: Less is always more. Exception: Money. Also laughter. And good hair days. And money.
But this I know for sure: Less floral wallpaper = more stylish kitchen, by like, 10,000 times.
Thanks to Mary from Feels Like Home Interiors, for sharing this lovely kitchen redo. Mary is a home stager/interior designer in Pittsburgh, so look her up if you’re in the area! She obviously knows what she’s doing!

Foyer Voyeur

When we were first looking to buy a house, my husband tried to sell me on this one that he really liked. It had a nice backyard, a good neighborhood, and actually more square footage AND a lower price than all the others we were looking at.
HOWEVER, the front entry opened right smack into a dark, dreary hallway. I immediately felt depressed every time we walked through. Surprise! We didn’t get that house. (Not without much whining by my husband, who could have cared less about the entryway).
Same thing here: Deb’s foyer, (if you could even call it that) was just big enough to swing open the door. Not the most welcoming of entrances for guests. So she knocked around a few walls, added some doors and decor, and now it’s simply fabulous! Check out more on her blog, Confessions of an Ugly Mom (spoiler alert: she’s nowhere near ugly!)

Chair-a-palooza!

I’ve been amassing a good collection of chair redos, so here they are without further ado:
Wait a minute, there is some further ado: Giveaway tomorrow! Check back in, won’t you?
More ado: AND I am also slowly starting the process of accepting new advertisers, should you be interested! (betterafter@live.com)
I know it’s kind of lame when a blog you like starts to get overrun with sponsors and ads and contests and blinky flashy things all up in your face, and the content becomes less and less what you liked about the blog in the first place.

So don’t you worry. I solemnly swear to keep this blog about what this blog is about. Still, I like giveaways and I like being able to tell my super awesome readers “Hey! Thanks for being here!”

And why you’re here is this:

Peace out! From the always fabulous Lisa at Popcorn Served Daily.

Spit-take Remake

Pretend I just took a big swig of Sprite. Then I looked at these pictures. Then I spit the whole mouthful out in amazement!
I will probably get a few emails saying “Are you sure that is the same kitchen? You didn’t mix up something up somewhere?” And all I can say is, “Yes! If Kristen from My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia can be trusted, I am pretty sure that is the same kitchen!
And guess what? She and her husband did just about 95% of that themselves! Wowzers. See more on her great blog HERE, also HERE, and also you can check out her island makeover HERE! Thanks Kristen!

Tom’s Table

This redo was submitted by one of Better After’s rare male readers! (Hello male readers! You are probably in the minority, but I’m so very glad you’re here!)
Thomas de-countrified this hunter green/pine combo with black paint and dark stain. Looks great and manly, I’d even say.
And hey, is that a signed picture of Lance Armstrong? You’d better believe it. Thomas worked for the bike company that sponsors Lance, so he’s got the hookup yo.

Pink Lady

I’ve seen pink and brown used in baby girl rooms quite frequently, not so much in grown-up bedrooms. But why the heck not? It looks great! Fun and feminine without being in your face girly. Credit to Mel from JunkinJunky who gave this bedroom such a complete overhaul, I think the only original item is the floor! Thanks Mel, love it!
