I’m currently having an argument with my brother about painted brick. He just doesn’t like it. What?! Whaaaaaaaaaaat?! (picture me saying that in the Jon Bovi voice from SNL. Have you seen that skit? Oh, it’s my favorite).

Anyway, WHAT? Sure there is a time and place for natural brick, but that place is not smack dab in the middle of an otherwise harmonious living room. It just looks angry, like it’s glaring at me! Go away angry wall of brick!

Ashley from Decorating Obsessed made the madness disappear, and I think it looks great, and my brother would probably admit it too, if he wasn’t so stubborn.

Double Time Tables

Here are a couple of little hardworking tables with cheerful paint jobs.

The first is comes from Elizabeth who made over this drab drop-leaf table for her tween daughter’s big room makeover. I can’t say I’ve ever seen such a small drop-leaf table before! Looks much more fun now.

The second is a happy little sewing table from Christina at Signs of Obsession. I love the whimsical paint job, almost as much as those delicious stacks of yarn behind it. I’m kind of a dork for yarn, what can I say. More to see HERE. Thanks ladies!

A New Old Bathroom

You would think if your house was 90 years old, there would be some age appropriate decor going on. A cast iron tub or some classic light fixtures. Not pink and brown tile halfway up the wall. It’s like seeing a grandma in a mini-skirt and fake eyelashes, wrong, all wrong!

Happily, Arlene had a plan to bring her bathroom back to its roots. She found salvaged pieces true to the time period of the home and thrifted just about everything else. I love how the new flooring looks like it could have been there all along. Thanks Arlene!

I have been begging my husband (who is not constructionally inclined. At all.) to make me something like this! I even found some great plans on Knock-Off Wood, (don’t you love that site?) So far nothing has happened on that front other than me excitedly showing my husband the plans and him saying, “Cool. Good luck with that.”

There’s more to this redo than meets the eye. Or nose!

Lisa from Recaptured Charm did more than give this dresser a makeover, although it’s a great makeover and could stand alone on that. She gave it a job, and its job is not to just sit there and look pretty. Click HERE to find out what it is!

Unimportant side note: I can’t stop looking at that thing on the top of the before dresser. It looks a lizard that got ran over. Or a green chili. That also got ran over.
