Lamp Bulb

What do you do when life hands you a challenge? Or, more specifically, when life hands you an ugly lamp missing a matching swan head?
You decapitate the other swan and make it work, baby.
 From Nicola, thanks for sharing!

What about when life doesn’t even hand you an ugly lamp, and all you get is the lightbulb? Well, tell life to shove it, and make that work too.

From Heather at Decor 4 Poor. Don’t even ask me how she did this, I have no idea!

Monday Morning, Clara’s Bookshelf

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend! And I wanted to say thank you all so much for your sweet and encouraging comments about me and my daughter. She is feeling better, I think. Yesterday she only screamed for like, half the day, so hey, improvement! I hope she is just breaking in some molars like some of you suggested, and not planning on being like this forever. But thanks for the support! My mom even called me on the phone to say how nice the comments were!
Anyhoodle, check out this bookcase by Clara. It began as a “super-cheap flat-packed wood shavings and paper pieces of furniture that start coming apart as soon as you finish assembling them.” She was just about to throw it out when she decided to see if she could revitalize it. Sho’nuff, she did, and it looks great!
I like the added legs and of course the fabric modge-podged to the top for an extra touch of sha-jazz! (I don’t think that is really a word). See more on her blog The Home in Paradise.

Chair Superpost!

I’m sorry. My brain is totally fried. I have nothing fun or witty to say, I’ve been doing battle all week with the crankiest 20 month old little girl on planet earth.
Not sure when she’s going to grow out of this screeching/wailing/refusing to be more than 2 inches away from me at all times while a. pulling my hair, b. sticking her hands in my mouth, c. yanking off my earrings, d. all of the above simultaneously /throwing temper tantrums even in her sleep/melt your ears off sonic-screaming phase, but it better be soon or I’m selling her on ebay.
So, in an effort to take it easy on myself, (ha!) I’ve assembled a simple bunch of great redos in the form of chairs and other seating devices. Please enjoy.

Just kidding.

Dueling Man Caves

Ok, as far as man cave’s go, this one was not even terrifying. I mean, there’s greenery and properly hung pictures and everything! Not a single fishing trophy or shot glass collection or deer head to be seen. Zero piles of ankle-deep peanut shells! (I’m not even making that up, I’ve seen that in person, folks)
But Kate and her banjo playing husband (judging by the … banjo) knew it could be more. Take a look at her blog This American Wife to see all the details, including a great list of tips on stretching your dollar. Thanks Kate!

Red White & Blue

Yeah, so I’m a little late for the 4th of July, but isn’t red white and blue like, the official colors of summer anyway? It still feels like hell summer here, so lets go with it. Please give it up for the following red white and blue redoes!
This red dresser is a thriftstore find, made over by reader Tiffany with a sassy coat of red. I actually quite like the shade of red she chose, not too glaring in your face a fireman is about to jump out of one of the drawers red, you know?

For our white portion of this post, please check out Oona’s lovely hutch. She says, It’s still missing the right top knob because I bought it and then promptly lost it. I am sure the house will vomit it up at some point in the future, so I refuse to buy a replacement.
That cracked me up! Check out her blog Little Pink House, and be prepared to be super envious of her little pink house.

And for the blue, Nicole from Home for Hire redid this freebie desk in a soft, subtle hue and named her Uffda. Do you think she looks like an Uffda? I don’t know, I would have probably named it Steve. Or Cher. I’ve actually never named a piece of furniture in my life, can you tell?

Brit and Pieces

Brit over at Sisters Friday found this interesting item at a yardsale and later learned that it was used to organize typeface letters for a printing press! One cannot deny it’s organizational usefulness, so she stayed true to its history and uses it to organize her crafting supplies.
All the colorful little boxes within were made by modge podging fabric to makeshift cardboard boxes.
I have decided that I need one! Not sure what I would put in it, since I am hardly what you’d call crafty. Socks maybe? Who knows? What would you use it for?
