C’mon Baby Light My Fire

Jessica from Decor Adventures is lucky enough to have a foyer right inside her front door, and I admit, I’m a little jealous. If I had a foyer, I would greet my guests by dramatically sweeping my arm and saying, “Please step into my grand foyYAAAY.”

She prettied up her space with a lot of thrifted finds and lightened up the brick. I think it looks very inviting and cozy!

And just in case you were craving another fireplace redo, well, here you have it. Tasha swapped out her wimpy little hole in the wall for a substantial “look at me ya’ll I am sexy!” fireplace by adding a mantel and some lovely slate and rock work. Gorgeous! See it on her blog DIYing to be Domestic. Thanks ladies!

What a Doll!

Wowzers! That is all I can say. When I first saw this before, I thought it would turn out to be an average nightstand redo…hmm white paint and new knobs maybe? But no, I was WRONG!

I just showed this to my mom, and she said, quote: “Oh. My. Heck.” Yeah, it’s that good. From Roo at Nice Girl Notes. Full tutorial over on her blog!

Kari Cares

Remember how a few days ago I was joking about stealing my Grandma Jerri’s TV? Well, this weekend I was actually at her house, and I was actually eyeballing said TV, and I noticed it actually looked a lot like Kari’s cabinet here. That should tell you how old that dang TV is, because Kari’s cabinet has been handed down for four generations.

Seriously, Grandma, I’m coming to gut your TV. Don’t be scared.

Anyway, so this cabinet had seen better days by the time it landed in Kari’s hands, but she knew it could be saved. She went to a lot of effort sanding it (45 hours worth! 45!!) and refinishing it, rather than slapping a coat of paint over it. (Which is fine for something you bought for $10 on Craigslist, but not for a 4th generation heirloom china cabinet, youknowwhati’msayin?)

I love the light blue interior, looks so lovely against the dark wood and white dishes.

Check it out on her blog Beautiful Inspirations. Thanks Kari!

I’m Like a Bird

Does anyone remember that stupid, stupid reality show from long ago on MTV called Rich Girls? And one of the girls was Tommy Hilfiger’s daughter? Anyway, on one episode she was having a mental breakdown because she needed to “make art” but she couldn’t because she was out of canvases and the art supply store was closed. *sob!*

Honeypie, don’t you know you can make art with anything?

That’s what Clare did with this old desk. With a little paint and some bird decor from Target she now has a one of a kind piece to hang in her home.

Check it out on her blog Sparrow’s Nest, and take note of her great little tip: using a mini muffin tin to mix paint! Gonna do that.
