No. 2 Stencil

There is one easy way to spice things up in the bedroom, and no, I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about curtains! If your desire for custom curtains went right out the window when you realized how pricey they can be, don’t despair! It isn’t curtains for curtains just yet!

Rachel from First Home Makeover shows us how stunning do-it-yourselfing stencil curtains can be. Lovely! Full how-to over on her blog. Thanks Rachel!

I Want It That Way

This room reminds me of Sunflowers and not just because of the 12″ tall wallpaper border assaulting my eyes. Actually, it reminds me of the perfume Sunflowers, because I can totally see myself spritzing on the scent, putting on my glitter eyeliner, listening to The Backstreet Boys, getting ready for prom in here. Helloooooo 90’s! And holy guacamole, that is one vivid shade of hunter green.

Heather updated it in a major way with a toned down paint color and some new accessories. Also, is that a new light fixture? Nope, she simply spray painted the old one and added new shades! Who would’ve guessed? Great job Heather! See more on her blog Tall Grass Design.

New Tiffany Blue

The ladies of Fiber and Fire originally redid this settee in a pink so hot it could have set your heart on fire, but the buyer asked for a Tiffany-inspired blue instead, so that’s what they delivered! I wouldn’t mind a Tiffany-inspired anything! The settee was also destined for a surprise room-makeover for the client’s daughter, which I also wouldn’t mind, not one bit. (Dear Universe, are you taking notes?)

What is a book thong?

“What the heck is a book thong?” you are probably asking out loud. Not long ago I would have answered “No flipping clue, but it sounds scandalous!!”

However, I have since been educated on the mystery of the book thong, so friends, let me tell you. A book thong is a luxurious little accessory, a handmade bookmark that looks like jewelry!

Dana from Saturday Mornings is selling custom book thongs in her freshly opened etsy shop and is spreading the word!  She says, “If you are giving a book as a gift, add a little something to it. Tuck in this book thong and you’ve just created a unique and extra-special personalized gift!

The cord sits inside the crease of the book and keeps your place. The beaded ends extend outside the book at the top and bottom.

Like wearing a piece of cherished jewelry, an elegant bookmark makes a reader feel a bit pampered.”

This one is perfect for a teacher, or Twilight fan, or person who really likes apples!
Custom orders are available! Aren’t they packaged cute too? I’m a sucker for attractive packaging, which sounds much dirtier than intended.

So go ahead and add a sprinkle of sparkle to your reading, visit her shop HERE.

School Days

Holly’s niece had a happy birthday thanks to this cute desk redo she received as a gift. The best part is it only cost Holly $2.32, since the desk was a freebie and she had everything else but the pink paint lying around. Extra clever points for gluing the bucket to the end of the desk to keep crayons and sparkles and stickers and all the other things little girls love close at hand.

Random side note: the flowers came from Holly’s VW beetle that she drove as a teenager. Man! I always wanted one of those. Nowadays though, I’d take one of these.

Crafty

Are you a crafty gal? (Or guy?) Do you long for a crafty space to call your own? Well, if you are as crafty as you say, then you should have already crafted up a crafting nook somewhere in your home. Are you tired of me saying craft? Because I am.

McKenzie turned a dreary basement corner into crafting cuteness with a little ingenuity and creative fixes, like long shade to hide the utility box and wallpapering right over the cinderblock with shelf liner! Check it out on her blog Stitch and Soiree.

And get excited, because in a few days there is a crafty giveaway a’coming that is sure to make your crafty heart go pitter-pat! Craft-craft crafty-pants, now I can’t stop.
