Can this bathroom be saved?

This bathroom needed to divorce itself. None of the items in here were compatible in the slightest. The all-black bathtub had nothing in common with the chrome shower, the pastel paint color did not play nicely with the heavy ‘Tuscan’ countertops, and the electric blue light fixtures were the secret lovechild of another bathroom altogether.

That’s when Jill stepped in to mediate. And sometimes mediation equals ripping everything down to the studs and starting over.

But was it ever worth it! With a streamlined color scheme and well-thought out fixtures, everything in here flows together harmoniously.

The shower used to be trapped in this corner of awkwardness, but Jill emancipated it by removing the extended countertop.

It looks bigger, but it’s actually still the same size, even with the wall closed in and extended to the ceiling on the left. That’s the power of symmetry.  And the power of love! Don’t give up on your troubled bathroom, there is always hope!

You can read more about it on her blog The Rozy Home, where she talks about some of the small changes she’s made since she finished this remodel two years ago.  You may have noticed the different mirrors above the vanity in both after pictures.  Which look is your favorite?

One more glimpse of that tub! I’m willing to bet a freestanding tub would improve almost any bathroom (and marriage)!

Wow, what a transformation! I like the silvery mirror frame a lot better than the black — it is glamorous and light. The black one is distracting and kind of plain in comparison.

I like the black frame. It carries the black color onto the wall. Without the black frame, the mirror just looks like it’s kind of floating there. The frame anchors it.

    I like the black frame.
Does anyone use tubs? I would have put a cute sideboard or something in that space, to store towels. I only use my tub for washing the dogs, so it’s just something that gets grody and needs to be cleaned.

I like the dark mirrors. It “anchors” the space.

The new bathroom is gorgeous! It’s bright and there’s so much more room with the counters gone. The tub is calling my name.

Thanks for sharing! I use my bathtub A LOT but I know that’s not the norm. I’ve always been a bath girl and love a good soak (especially with bath salts). The kids love it too! They constantly beg to take bubble baths in it. 🙂

The only issue I see is with the tub – I wouldn’t like to reach over it to turn it on, but otherwise it’s a beautiful remodel. I’d also be wary of how difficult it is to clean around some of those tight spaces around the vanities.
