When we built our house last year we had the option to either put a regular sized shower in the master bathroom or a spacious over-sized one. The lady from the builder’s office talked us out of the larger shower. She was fired shortly thereafter. Coincidence? Probably. But she was full of bad advice, and constantly screwed up our paperwork, and I caught her face-down drunk, er, asleep on her desk once and maybe that’s also why.
So, I’ve always regretted not choosing a larger shower. (“It’s a SHOWER. Upstairs! WHO is even going to SEE it?” she squawked, forgetting the the fact that showing off your shower is not really the point of having a shower).
But Debbie from Refresh by Debbie gets it. She was unhappy with her tiny shower, and opted to rip out a storage closet to extend it all the way across to the other side. Tons of beautiful tile and shiplap walls made the rest of the room shine too.
If I can’t do a cartwheel in the shower, it’s not the shower for me. Just kidding. Please don’t envision me doing a cartwheel in the shower.
I said don’t!

September 1, 2015 at 6:13 AMI would have been so claustrophobic in that shower before. I love big showers. I enjoy that I can just step out of the water and just sort of steam a little bit when the shower is bigger.

September 1, 2015 at 6:57 AMThat is a beautiful shower. My husband is six foot four so if we have the choice no one is talking us out of a giant, extra tall shower. With a rainhead. My only other demand is also a detachable showerhead (in the same or different shower) for dealing with kids. After one kid I’ve learned it is much MUCH easier to spray off a poopy bum. I’m a sucker for practicality.

September 1, 2015 at 9:36 AMOh, I’m all over this one. We just ripped out our jetted tub to put in an oversized shower and I LOVE it! It’s about 6′ x 3 1/2′ and ridiculously tall with 82″ shower frame (the black one I asked about in another comment). We didn’t know what we were doing when we made all of the decisions but I’m happy with the size and the 2 shower heads and the lovely jets on the one side. We call it the car wash shower. Hee hee.
