Well, we eased on into Monday, so now how about we attack Tuesday with an electric jolt of raspberry-flavored awesome?
Christina specializes in awesome, and that’s exactly what this dresser makeover is. There isn’t a color in the rainbow that she shies away from. (See more proof here and here. And here).
Teach me your ways Christina! Come to my house and shake me out of my ‘paint everything white’ phase! It can maybe be done!

Hey. In other news, I have a random question for you. Please help me out. Remember when I made that custom deck of cards for my niece? Well, I am going to make a custom deck of cards for myself, because why not. But my cards won’t be photos; I am going to put a “getting to know you” question on each of the cards. Then, I’ll have a cool deck of cards that I can put out on the table, and maybe I’ll invite some people over, and one of them might pick up a card and read something like: “Describe your worst date ever,” and next thing you know three hours of laughing-til-you-pee conversation has gone by. Wouldn’t that be the best?
I’m sure you can probably buy something like this, but I want to make it myself, so I can pick out the questions. My goal is a full deck of cards, front and back, so I need 108 questions. So far I have made up … hmmm … about 20.
So! Please tell me your favorite fool-proof conversation starting questions! Anything goes! Almost anything! I don’t want any of those ‘would you rather’ type questions, but other than that, hit me with it! I think this will be fun.

April 21, 2015 at 9:40 AMOh, I happen to have a whole document of those types questions that I have collected over the years. 150 total, but some of them are better than others! I’ll send it via email.

April 21, 2015 at 10:42 AM1. What is your favorite color and why?
2. How would you spend your perfect day?
3. If you had a million dollars and you had to give it all away, what charity would you give to and why?
4. What body part of yours do you love?
5. If you could collect something without being accused of being a hoarder, what would you collect?

April 21, 2015 at 11:20 AMDo you have any scars and how did you get them? (This is how you would find out that I have had a piece of pencil lead in my right leg for 31 years)
(Depending on how PG rated you want it to be) Who was your first kiss? (not sure if you want your kids knowing that, but its always a fun conversation starter!)
If you could be the opposite gender for just one day what would you do?
Dream dinner guests alive or dead?

April 21, 2015 at 11:34 AMIf you didn’t live here, where would you live?
I think sometimes of the many roads not taken in my life. After saying “YES!” to every adventure that presented itself, it’s a little bittersweet that I will live in Tucson, probably for the rest of my life. It’s a great place to live, for sure, but there are so many other places I haven’t been before! So, I think this is a great question to spark conversation about all the other possible lives you could have lived.
If I can wax, unnecessarily, a little longer, it’s also a good question to ask one’s spouse. I found, for example, that my husband and I have changed our answers as we’ve gone along. And it might be a good idea to see if some elements of that other self can be brought to reality. Would I give up my happy suburban life? No way! But I would find going to the farmer’s market very rewarding. That’s very do-able. Hubs would live in Victoria, BC. Maybe we can find a place to rent for a couple weeks in the summer to bring that alternate path into the mix.
I’m just talking to myself while typing aren’t I?
🙂

April 21, 2015 at 12:01 PMName one even whether positive or negative that’s had the most impact on your life.
I use this one for interviews…some day I’ll write a book about some of the response…
A notable example that pops in to my mind:
A woman was having an affair and her husband came home, and her lover and the husband were in a fight. Her lover stabbed her husband with a letter opener from her desk and she used triage techniques to keep him alive till the paramedics arrived. He lived and their marriage survived. She used this story to point out how cool-headed she remained in crisis situations. I work at a residential treatment facility for troubled youth… we didn’t hire her.

April 21, 2015 at 12:26 PMHoly crap!! Way to … think on her feet? I can’t believe she pulled that one out for a job interview!!!!! Wow, I would love to hear more of those. You better get on that book!

April 21, 2015 at 12:20 PMWhat was your dad like when you were little? (This was thrown at me unexpectedly the other day, and I had a hard time answering. Much easier to describe my mom, for some reason!)

April 21, 2015 at 12:21 PMI love to ask people if they would date/marry themselves…it takes them off guard but also makes them question whether they are a good partner or not. There are some crazy answers out there!

April 21, 2015 at 1:10 PMI think there really is a game something like this because my sister mentioned it to me and said it was hysterically funny to play while drinking. I’d love to ask people What’s something you’ve thought about in the past week that you really wouldn’t want anyone to know:)

April 21, 2015 at 1:34 PMWhat is one trend or fad that you have rocked? (Ex., banana clips, jelly shoes, pinned jeans, bedazzled anything, frosted jeans, mullets, sweet perms, crop tops, a period in junior high where you went metal all day err day, your questionable phase of one pant leg up and one down…you know I can go on forever)

April 21, 2015 at 1:42 PMWow! This transformation is amazing. It’s my favorite color too, haha. I love the pop of pink with the gold detailing. P.S. Those striped lamps are just as gorgeous.

April 21, 2015 at 7:35 PMI think you should do a post soon where you list all of these great questions and the ones from Ann. That would be awesome! BTW, I love your blog. It gives me a daily dose of amazing makeovers. Thanks!

April 21, 2015 at 9:43 PMFirst, the color is awesome!! Love it. Very bold.
My suggestion for questions:
What was your first concert? (mine was Cheap Trick)
What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know? (we attended the Catholic folk mass in the 70’s; to me the Beatles songs are church music. My mom played the tambourine in the church band. Also, red wine reminds me of church)
Who would you choose to play YOU in a tv movie? (Kate Winslet. I quiz people in my life about this regularly so if the need arises……..)
Lindsey @ Better After
April 22, 2015 at 1:46 PMThese are great questions! My first concert was more like a music festival with lots of different bands that I was very much too young to experience and I remember being terrified!

April 21, 2015 at 9:55 PMWe have a question jar given to us by a friend, a longtime educator and child development specialist. One of my favorite questions: “If you had a horse in the Kentucky Derby, what would you name it?” Reminds me of when my husband and I were trying to name our twins and my then-2-year-old son came up with these amazing names: Smack McSix and Cannon Bodyslam. (He’s a real badass, that kid.) We went with Beth and Sadie, but I’d be lying if I said we didn’t honestly consider Cannon.
By the way, I nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award! I have a healthy eating blog but I couldn’t NOT nominate you, because this is literally my favorite blog. It’s seriously the only one I religiously check to see what I missed. Thanks for being so awesome, lady!

April 22, 2015 at 1:44 PMThanks so much Lindsay! I left a comment on your blog, but it might have evaporated into cyberspace, because I don’t see it anymore. In any case, thanks so much!!! You’re too kind! I had fun learning about you, and would love to try out your vegan cooking anytime! 😉

April 22, 2015 at 8:08 AMOne I use as an icebreaker at meetings:
If you had a sailboat, what would you name it?
I would name mine, “Chosen Vessel”

April 22, 2015 at 9:19 AMIf you could inherit any object from one of your relatives, what would it be? (Mine would be my Grandma’s Hutch- my aunt got it, and she probably doesn’t even love it).
Once I got asked about my most embarrassing moment. My answer, “Telling about my most embarrassing moment would make this moment my 2nd most embarrassing moment. It’s terrible. I’ll tell you my current 2nd place story instead.” Everybody has a running list of their top 5, right? Maybe I just make a fool out of myself more often than most. And the thing about embarrassing moments… they are only embarrassing if they are witnessed by other people.
