Hey gang, it’s Saturday! I feel like Saturday is sort of my ‘free time,’ to blog about whatever I fancy, so I’m taking that opportunity right now. I’m calling it “Things We Need To Talk About.”
So here’s one. I bought this new nail polish topcoat, simply because Stevie Nicks said in a magazine that it is her favorite and it makes her manicures last forever. If it’s good enough for Stevie, it’s good enough for me. That’s what I thought anyway. But NO. It was total crap. I made a special trip to Sally just to buy this particular brand, and my nail polish still chipped off in like, five hours. PS: It’s called Poshe and don’t buy it.
“Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies.” No, actually don’t. You owe me $7, Stevie.
But here’s a product I do love. (This is not at all sponsored, just so you know).
It’s the Hoover FloorMate Deluxe, and it’s my best friend. Not really, I do have human people friends, I swear. But this is the best floor cleaner I have ever used. I’ve had it for six months now, and I sing its praises every time I use it. I use it on my tile floors, and they even feels cleaner under my feet than before when I was just mopping. I love that it has clean and dirty tanks so I’m never using dirty water. Anyway, it’s awesome and well worth the price, and dang, maybe I should have tried to get them to sponsor this.
Here’s another things we need to talk about. Fleek. Have you heard this? Apparently it’s a word. It means super good, I think. Mostly I see it describing eyebrows, like “Girl, your eyebrows are on fleek today.” Is this hip? I don’t know. What is going on with the world?
Here’s something else. I saw this on instagram this week and it made me laugh. It’s true. You ARE a pink starburst, friend, and don’t you forget it!
Have a great weekend! Thanks for listening to my rambling thoughts today. Oh yes, and don’t forget about the Ultimate DIY Bundle! This white hot deal is ending soon!

An entire library of DIY ebooks for peanuts! Peanut’s I say!

January 24, 2015 at 3:44 PMThe FloorMate! Oh, the Floormate has my 100% recommendation. My model is not that fancy, but it’s still awesome. I got a refurbed one from Amazon for relatively cheap–bought it for myself, actually, for my birthday, although dearest hubby (who really is a dear) said it was a gift for himself because only terrible husbands get their wives cleaning appliances for their birthdays. Yet, I totally love it. Works wonderfully. I live on a farm with small children, so keeping the floor clean is a constant battle. I love this thing!
P.S. Can I have a small portion of the fees you collect with your FloorMate sponsorship, lol?

January 24, 2015 at 4:14 PMBut…I like the yellow Starburst xD
And how I wish I had a need for a fancy mop! Instead, I have way too much carpet that is impossible to care for. Mmm, apartment carpeting. :'( xD

January 24, 2015 at 7:02 PMRimmel’s Lasting Finish Pro in clear…. It totally rocks as a top coat. My mani lasts forever with it on. And a big :p to Stevie Nicks. I never liked her anyway.

January 25, 2015 at 6:04 AMI’m a bad blog reader and don’t ever comment, but this post is bringing me out of lurkdom to tell you how much I enjoy your writing. I love all the makeovers you feature, but the reason you’re one of my favorite bloggers is your great sense of humor. Thanks for always being a bright spot in my day!

January 25, 2015 at 12:40 PMNew Follower here 🙂 Your writing made me want to join – any sister who loves her floormate is a sister of mine…
I am totally non-domesticated, but have this great house where the entire first floor is in-floor heating stained concrete; 6 rooms total! Just one of the reasons why we bought the house…it reminded me of the first stable I ever worked at – “concrete! easy to clean! wheres my shovel?”…enter the gift of the Floormate 4 years ago from my thoughtful husband (he has taught me so many domesticated things…)I can now wash floors in a matter of a few hours, not a few days…weeks…well, you get the picture!

January 26, 2015 at 1:16 PMHaha, Floormate sisters unite!

January 25, 2015 at 5:05 PMDitto what Jenny said- you’re hysterical! And yours is probably the only blog I am adamant about reading – ok, you and Mike Rowe. Anyway, thought I’d throw my two cents in on your manicure- as a nail tech for 19 years I’ll tell you that Vinylux by Creative nail design is the longest lasting I’ve come across- seriously, I have to work at getting it off! Get it at a salon- it rocks! LOVE your blog!!

January 26, 2015 at 1:16 PMOk, Vinylux, I’ll have to try it! I much trust your word over Stevie’s!

January 26, 2015 at 7:12 AMThe worst thing about celebs telling us anything works well is that they don’t do what we do all day. I doubt Stevie is washing dishes or doing laundry, am I right? 😉
Lindsey @ Better After
January 26, 2015 at 1:15 PMThat’s so true! Or, I’m sure she was paid tons of money to mention the brand. I always laugh when I see pics of celebrities just ‘happening’ to be walking out of ‘walgreens’ with a perfectly forward facing bottle of ‘shampoo/energy drink/deodorant’ with the brand name prominently displayed. I thought Stevie was above all that, I guess. *sniff*

January 26, 2015 at 1:11 PMThey are doing great! Thanks for asking! They are doing so good, I forget I even had it sometimes! I’ll have to share more about how the whole process went sometime. 🙂

February 5, 2015 at 8:09 PMLindsey, if you’re having trouble with your nail polish chipping, start with wiping your entire nail with rubbing alcohol before applying the base coat. Natural nail beds are very oily and need to have that oil removed to help polish stay on. The rubbing alcohol reduces the oil and helps the polish adhere better to the nail.
Hope this helps!! I hate chipping polish!!!

February 11, 2015 at 1:14 PMOk, so I’m glad you said something because my students are always saying stuff is “on fleek” (and yes, they’ve told me my eyebrows are on fleek too) and I had no clue what they were saying…like, do I need a wax or something? Ha ha.

September 28, 2015 at 3:37 PMI’ve always been a fan of Seche Vite as a topcoat, but I think people’s different body chemistry can majorly affect nail polish staying power. I have a friend who couldn’t keep nail polish on at all, it would all come off in one piece of polish when she would do something as simple as running her hands through her hair. However, we tried out an adhering basecoat, instead of changing up the topcoat and it changed her life. As she puts it, “Is this what normal people feel like, being able to wear nail polish for more than a day?” Orly Bonder. Orange bottle with a rubbery purple handle. You put it on and then put the polish on top while it is still tacky and it seems to work wonders for her.

September 29, 2015 at 1:25 PMNice! I’m going to have to check that out.
