The Adorable Outdoors

How cute is this deck makeover from Gina? Answer: Way cute.  That is a lot of style and color packed into one small space, and it looks fantastic!

It reminds me ever so slightly of a deck ‘makeover’ we did at our first apartment when we were newlyweds approximately 100 years ago.  Spoiler alert: it was nothing like this.  I’m pretty sure it included a resin bunny sculpture and some dollar store windchimes. I am also 100% sure that took a plastic milk crate, sewed a cover for it out of an old shower curtain and called it a ‘table.’ That’s probably where I set the bunny sculpture. I think I was aiming for ‘outdoorsy.’ Wow.

Go scrub the mental image of that out of your brain by visiting Gina’s lovely blog What Gina Says.

PS: I get asked this question a lot, and it always surprises me that so many people don’t know, so I thought I’d answer it here.   Question: I have a before and after to share, do you take submissions?  Answer: YES!  Absolutely! Send them my way at betterafter(at)live.com. No need to have a blog or a link, just some nice clear pictures is all I need!

WOW! Talk about great things coming in small packages. The space seems a million times bigger with that set up and I am pretty much dying over the rug and pillows!

That deck is just fabulous!! I would not change one single thing…well, maybe I would put out the fire as it’s too hot right now. Summer in Texas + fire pit = Dante’s Circle of Hell.

Oh wow, I have the same outdoor mat in the first picture. Only mine is totally faded to black, and the dog has chewed the corners off. Yeah, I’m due for an updated patio too. This looks great!

Lindsey, I can’t get behind this before/after. Sorry. It’s just me being cranky.

For some reason, I always find patio tables and comfortable chairs more useful than patio settees on balconies like this. It’s a more versatile set-up. Also, my friends are low class and they want to slug their wine with their elbows on a solid surface.

I am wondering if Gina’s neighbors will enjoy the smoke from a firepit. We have so much air pollution I would be annoyed if my neighbors lit a wood fire.

Now an upholstered milk crate with a bunny on top–that I would like!

I have that same cevron rug on my patio, but it didn’t automatically make my whole room look better like hers did. I must have gotten a dud. 🙂
