You know what I think? I think hormones are to blame for at least half of the world’s problems. I seriously do. I don’t care if you’re male or female, sometimes your hormones get all out of whack and aggressively override the section of your brain responsible for rational behavior. And that’s how Erin explains her decision to use this frothy shade of peachy pink in her dining room.
But that was then, in the throes of pregnancy. Take a look at the NOW! Not only has this room’s mood visibly improved with the addition of that amazing wall color, she’s also added a ton of designer touches that you’ll have to see up close on her blog Design Crisis. (My favorite: that fancy new lacquer doorknob!)

March 10, 2014 at 7:45 AMLove the new color and design updates in this room. Definitely liking the turquoise over the pink. I think painting that table and refinishing the top was genius. It looks great in black. I do have a pet peeve, though.
I think that dining chairs must be comfortable enough for family and guests to sit through slow food meals, multiple dessert courses, and lots of wine-fueled conversation in the candlelight.
The rush-seated dining chairs and the brass bench in the ‘after’ don’t look like they offer much padding and/or support for tushies and backs.
In this case, I prefer the chairs from the ‘before’ pic. Maybe she could get them back. Paint the traditional ones black. Leave the MCM chairs as they are. Not too matchy-matchy. I don’t mean to be critical but I do think that functionality comes before design. But that is my only quibble about this beautiful room.
(Maybe it’s my hormones causing trouble in the world and overriding my rational behavior. LOL….)
Thanks for posting inspirational befores and afters, Lindsey.

March 10, 2014 at 1:21 PMNot loving that bench material, or the chairs really. the best chairs in all of this are the before pic end chairs, the Mid century moderns. I would have mixed in some others with those.
