Rock the Shower

Oh, foreign bathrooms!  You are so foreign to me! Yes to a bidet, but no to a shower?  Me no understand.

But maybe that’s a universal thought, because Marta, who lives in Spain, was more than happy to remove the bidet in favor of a full-size shower with a gorgeous rock wall. She repositioned the sink, and swapped it for a space-saving design, and ditched that weirdly embedded mirror too.

It looks like three times the bathroom now! Check out her blog Canela y Naranja for a closer view of all the lovely details, including her genius idea for adding storage in a teeny space.  (Spoiler alert: it’s CD shelves from IKEA!)

Looks super cool! But I’m wondering how those materials will hold up to water…

Very, very pretty to look at. But I don’t think I’d want the challenge of cleaning that wall. The floor looks cool too.

I hope they aren’t relying on those candles for light once the shower gets turned on! Haha.

Looks beautiful but there’s no way I want to clean those nooks and crannies. I actually wanted to put that around my drop in tub. Then you could vacuum it. 🙂

Oh my gosh, there’s hope for my bathroom! This is so beautiful. Wonder if it’s a pain to bump into though.

I can only think of that commercial about the guy who rents a power hose & demolishes his wife’s lovely back porch & we’re supposed to giggle like it’s funny. Murder has been committed for lesser infractions. Just sayin’…

Yeah I don’t understand foreign bathrooms either, like why a small 2 ft panel instead of a shower curtain? One hotel I was in didn’t have anything to contain the shower, but the shower head was up on the wall. Yep, I flooded that room every single day.

    Great update to this one.

    Wow that is gorgeous.
I love the rock wall, although as already pointed out might be a pain to keep clean. But so worth it!!!

    I write from Italy.
I prefer the small shower + bidet.
I do not understand the bathrooms foreigners without a bidet.
How we are different in the world!

Very nice rock wall reminiscent of a SPA.

Nice! I love small space makeovers, how to maximize space and utility. The rock is very pretty. It should stay that way if it is installed properly and the homeowner is on top of the cleaning.

We recently bought a house with 2 rock showers installed, 20 years ago… Yikes! They weren’t taken care of well or installed right, so we are in the middle of tearing them out!

I am not getting the candles in the shower.. they wouldn’t stay lit if you actually used the shower. The rock looks very old and dated to me, I’m not a fan.

I didn’t get the showers in Italy at all either. NO shower curtains! My boyfriend’s son flooded the entire bathroom, what a hassle!

This is beautiful to look at, but I’d like to see a close up of the rock wall after a years worth of shampoo, conditioner, dead skin cells, hard water, dust, shaving gels and body cleansers. I don’t see how this can be cleaned properly. This was just not thought out well for actual use. I can only imagine how stuff would build up in all those rock crevices…bacteria factory. Choosing something thats really pretty doesn’t always translate to actually working well in a space. The floor is lovely though.
