With all the hustle and bustle this time of year, you may not have noticed that your bathroom is the color of stale Doritos. Totally understandable. Lucky for you, Sarah at Compulsive Craftiness is here with a cure. You’ll never guess what it is. Ok, you probably will. Paint! Paint that sucker today! What better gift to give your family, your guests, and yourself?
Not content to just rid the walls of their terra-cotta glow, Sarah also gave her tired old vanity an updated look with a deep mint. I probably would never have thought of a monochromatic match like this, but it really is a nice complement to the light mint walls. Hardware was simply updated with oil-rubbed bronze spray paint, one of my favorite tricks!

December 17, 2013 at 8:28 PMI will second the fact that your correct word usage and grammar is truly appreciated. I have quit reading other blogs because it is too upsetting to me to see the many errors. (I might have issues…)
I didn’t know that those old “wood” vanities would take paint that well. Thanks for showing it!

December 18, 2013 at 6:42 AMThey really did that vanity a favor with that beautiful paint job – the details really pop now, where they were lost in all the wood grain look before… definitely Better After!

December 18, 2013 at 8:15 AMWhat a great look! I wouldn’t have envisioned doing a monochromatic look either, but it looks great! I guess it also helps that this is nearly the same exact color we painted our vanity recently too! I like it!

December 18, 2013 at 8:19 AMThe paint makes that corner detail pop!
I have a similar vanity in my bathroom that I updated with light gray paint. You just need to use one of those good primers first so that the paint adheres to the fake wood. My vanity looks 100% better too. I also wallpapered inside cabinet and drawers where the particle board had absorbed some water and split the finish. It also was a big improvement. The 20 year old vanity is good to go for another 10 years.
Go for it, everyone! That ugly faux oak/particle board can be a thing of the past.
Also appreciate your word nerdiness….

December 18, 2013 at 12:59 PMI need to show this to my mom. She just got a new bathroom faucet (champagne bronze updated from the old brass with chrome handles) and is going to change her light fixture as well. I was telling her she should paint the vanity green (her favorite color, and it would coordinate with her bathroom accessories.) She doesn’t read blogs, so she couldn’t really imagine a green vanity, but this might sway her.

December 18, 2013 at 7:33 PMWhat where is the love for the stale Doritos paint job! Can you imagine if they made paint that had flavors kind of like on “Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory”. I mean you probably would not want to be licking the paint in the bathroom *looks at near by toilet* ewww but it would be revolutionary.
I love how the paint job makes the room feel large and is it easier on the eyes! Plus that mirror makes my heart swoon with love.
