So, exciting news alert: I’m like a hundred years behind on my laundry. With last week’s three-day weekend, plus nearly an entire day without water, and a midnight sheet changing session thanks to a sick kid last night, I’m way off schedule with a mountain of folding to conquer. I need some kind of incentive. Could you possibly come over and hide money and/or chocolate in the pockets of all our clean clothes? Thanks in advance.
With a laundry room like Ashley’s though, I’d be done in no time. I bet she finds excuses just to hang out in there. I know I wouldn’t want anything hiding that awesome countertop for long. See more of her makeover on her blog Domestic Imperfection.

November 18, 2013 at 1:22 PMI am seriously considering doing this…I only store stuff I rarely use on the top shelves of my cabinets and since I have 9′ ceilings I have a lot of wasted space that could be better used lower. I am also considering putting a “top” above my front loaders so that I have usable folding space and stuff doesn’t fall beside and behind my washer and dryer. Ho-hum…another project…fun! I have beautiful cabinets but I am really tempted to paint them…

November 18, 2013 at 2:37 PMAhh, I wish I even HAD cabinets! My laundry room has 9 foot ceilings and NOTHING above the washer and dryer. Such a waste! If I wasn’t renting, that’d be the first project I’d undertake

November 18, 2013 at 2:58 PMSuch a practical and cute laundry room. I get very tired of seeing laundry room makeovers where the detergents and deep cleaners and all the necessary grime-getting-outers are poured into these gorgeous glass containers, like I have time to deal with that transferring nonsense, and like they wouldn’t inevitably end up shattered in my constant use. I like pretty, it’s very high on my list, but practical is an absolute necessity for me. This room is great for that!

November 18, 2013 at 4:04 PMLindsey, upper cabinets don’t do much damage and are super easy to install (well probably not in your condition, but I bet the hubs can do it!)
Seriously, 2-4 3″ screws into the studs is all that is holding up most cabinets. I bet you can find them ubber cheap at Habitat or other discount store! When you move, if you don’t want to be nice and leave them for the next tenant, just take out the 2-3 screws holding the cabinet up and putty the holes. Touch up paint and no one is the wiser!!! I bet if you promised to do it in a “professional” manner, the landlord would be tickled pink.
Just make sure you don’t drive the screws through your plumbing or AC line or you could find yourself replacing your AC unit to the tune of $2800. Even the best of us do stupid things sometimes!!!! (And yes, I used a stud finder…but they find copper too! Who knew!)
