Sometimes a good thrifted side-table is hard to find. That’s not true. They are pretty easy to find, but they are usually about 2 feet tall. Why was furniture of yesteryear so dang short? It’s not like people were knuckle-scraping neanderthals a few decades back. Maybe ceilings were really low back then or something. Maybe that was just the groovy cool style. Who knows.
So Stephanie was having trouble on her search for the perfect bedside table. Nothing was the right size for the place she had in mind. Luckily, she’s a resourceful gal, so she just whipped one up herself with an old lamp base and an oval frame, both found the same day at Goodwill. Genius! See the specifics on her blog Madeline Lewis.

September 20, 2013 at 11:23 AMA perfect use of an old Home Interior picture. I gave mine *they were two of the set* to my niece when she married over 25-years ago. She sold them for a mint on ebay. I like this use of them much better. Really creative!

September 20, 2013 at 2:27 PMI feel sort of stupid for not thinking of this because it’s such a damn good idea. And it especially works because the lamps were so damn tall. I’ve been looking for a good marble-top side table and I bet you could do this and buy a marble round and still have a pretty inexpensive side table.

September 20, 2013 at 3:16 PMNice – but I’ll bet that thing tips over at the drop of a hat! It looks great, and full points for creativity, but I wouldn’t be putting anything breakable or heavy on it…
