Things might be looking a little wonky around here for a bit; I’m in the process of becoming a grown-up blogger and transferring my blog over to WordPress. Actually, I’m camping right now. The fabulous Kristi from Addicted 2 Decorating is in the process of doing all the technical stuff, so if anything looks wierd, blame her. I kid! She’s amazing.
But anyway, what does this switcheroo mean for you, lovely reader? Hopefully nothing more than a better viewing experience. Better, faster, stronger, cleaner, and what have you. And maybe just a bit of patience while we get the kinks all worked out. And here’s hoping that I’ll be back up to regular blogging speed by next week. This whole dance competition in Vegas followed immediately by a trip to the mountains to visit my family for the 4th, followed immediately by our camping trip has left me exHAUSTed. My husband basically gets two weeks off per year, so we have to cram everything in there we possibly can. By the way, for those of you who have been asking, the dance competition went great! We won top honors in our division and “Outstanding Entertainment” overall.
And for those of you who are tired of hearing me talk about myself, (me!) here is your makeover of the day, from Amanda at Reloved Home Designs. She estimates there was something like 10 layers of paint on this sorry old teacher’s chair, but was patient enough to get to the beauty that lurked underneath. Waaaaaaay underneath.

July 10, 2013 at 6:28 PMThis could possibly be my favorite makeover you’ve ever featured. (I have a bit of an obsession with chairs.) I checked the “Gonna try it” box because I would if I could ever find anything like it. That’s not likely to happen, though, because finds like this don’t come along every day. This is an absolute treasure!

July 10, 2013 at 8:48 PMI’m with Martha. It takes a lot for me to say, “Wow!” but that’s exactly what I said (or at least, I thought it in my head) when I saw it. Awesome x sauce! Good job, Amanda!

July 11, 2013 at 2:25 AMWhenever I scroll back the years with paint, going back in time as it were, I imagine what it must have been like for the previous owner to say,(epecially on this one!) “Got me the regulations standard 1940’s wooden teacher chair. Zippedy-de! Get me some students!” then, “Ouch, this thing is splittin’ splinters. Must paint it cheery yellow.” then “Ugh! Soooo 50’s, MUST paint it lime green, now that’s so HIP and 600’s!” then “Ewwwww, pERRRRpull!!! Soooo swingin’ mid 70’s. MUST paint it salmon pink, coz like yew knowww it IS the early 90’s and we just lerv it like.” and then today, “Good grief! What the heck were all these people thinking! Gotta get rid of all that crud and just let it all be natural.” Now THAT’S what I like!
Oh and BTW Well done on the dancing!

July 11, 2013 at 11:01 AMI just started my little hobby business. This chair was truly a labor of love and is currently sitting in my son’s room. Thank you all for you comments. It is validation that I’m doing the right thing. So, thank you, thank you, thank you for taking a moment to comment 🙂
