Turning Red

Looking to add some adventure and excitement to your life?  Then I suggest you buy yourself some red lipstick!  (I also suggest you ask someone else because I am obviously not that exciting.) But I just bought red lipstick for the very first time today, and I have to tell you, I feel like a whole new woman.  A woman named Clown Lips McCrazy Mouth, but it’s a new and exciting sensation all the same.

Fine, so red is something I have to work up to. Not so with the following makeovers however, I could easily get used to all that red sharing my space, if not my face. Especially this dresser from Shanna at Restoration Redoux I think the gold handles are what do the trick, such a lovely complement to the color.

And how fun is this dresser turned TV stand from Barbara?  So fun that the wall even agrees! Fun!  See how it plays a part in her entire family room makeover over on her blog Hodge:Podge.

I’m just loving red lately – I have never painted a piece red – really have to get on the band wagon here – makes everything I do look kind of boring!

Love it!!! I especially love the first one. My most prized possession is a fire-engine red armoire that I built from a kit and painted years ago all by myself, way before painted furniture and DIY was hip.

Okay, I’ve been reading your blog for….a long time, and maybe I’ve commented once. I don’t really remember. But I just have to say, “Clown Lips McCrazy Mouth” made me laugh my head off! Maybe because it’s something I would say. Or maybe because that’s really how I would look in red lipstick. I dunno. Either way…

    ..you’re funny!

I hardly ever laugh right out loud, but lately when I do, it’s with you. 🙂

I’m fairly sure that red lipstick adds 10 years to my age, so I won’t be going there. But you can bet your sweet shiny heiny that I will be saying Clown Lips McCrazy Mouth at least a few times this week, every time I need a laugh!

I am laughing over the Clown Lips McCrazy Mouth! Reminds me of a couple years ago when I tried red lipstick again (after years of a more neutral lip), I was picking my son up at preschool and when he saw me he yelled (in front of every other parent there for 3 classes of kids) ‘Mom, you look like the Joker from Batman!!!!’. Sigh.

I do love these pieces! I need some red, I think. Just not on my lips 😉

I thought I was the only one who looked like a clown in red lipstick. Part of my problem is that they all seem to turn pink when I wear them. I finally found one that was sheer and had an almost brown tone, and it worked alright. These days, I don’t even wear lipstick. I stick to tinted lip balm that just enhances my natural lip color. It goes with everything and doesn’t rub off on cups, straws, etc.

Oh, and the dressers are nice, too.
