This may look like a standard bedroom in any basic tract home, but it was actually a bedroom in a charming 1929 cottage. I swear! It just happened to be a little anemic in the charm department at the time. Chelsea’s husband hung plywood planks over the lumpy plaster and added baseboard and crown moulding, while she ripped up the carpet, painted the floors white, and repainted all the furniture too. Whew.
It is officially overflowing with cuteness and charm now. Dang, look how many walls and corners had to be planked in here, that guy deserves an award! Check out Chelsea’s blog Three on Grove to see more, like shhhhh: the secret room!

April 25, 2013 at 5:23 PMAugh! There seem to be people all over who think it wise to take a charming, vintage house and paint it beige and add “fresh carpet” to make it appealing. I applaud this homeowner for reclaiming the charm in their home! One of the very best features in a truly vintage place is the variety of textures – these people nailed it with the walls, rugs, and light fixtures! I think I need to go find a few rugs like that and make a knotted-cloth wall hanging too!
