White Out!

I’ve featured a lot of kitchens here on Better After, and I would guesstimate that 90% of them have been white.  What can I say, I just like them!  I think you do too, because 90% of the kitchen submissions I get are white!  I figure that even if you have seen 1,000 white kitchen makeovers,  something about this one will inspire you.  Maybe you love the backsplash all the way up to the ceiling. (YES.)  Or the walnut-stained butcher block (droooooool.)  Or the open shelving, crown moulding, undermount sink, or a combination of everything, including but not limited to: all that white!
It just looks better; and to quote the wisest sage of all, Wil.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas: I just can’t get enough.  See more of Rita’s fabulous DIY kitchen makeover on her blog Suburbs Mama.

I am so in the minority because I have a white kitchen and I loathe it. I’m happy to say I don’t know if it’s the constant wiping down if the cabinets because I have 4 children or if I just prefer a little color in my kitchen. I do love the backsplash in this one though. When I make mine over I’ll have many decisions to make starting with should I kill the pantry and use the extra space….

Yup, the backsplash is awesome, so is that sink, but those counter tops make it all look even better.

I love the counters, subway tile and open shelves. So beautiful. I don’t understand the fascination with white, though. I HATE scrubbing my cabinets. I have grey cabinets and white appliances, and they show everything! Do people with white kitchens own stock in magic erasers?

Nicely done Rita! It doesn’t even look like the same kitchen.

I like how the microwave isnt above the cooktop anymore, but it’s one of my pet peeves to have it on the counter. Especially those pretty ones.

Thank you for posting my kitchen! And thank you all for your sweet comments. I have dreamed of a white kitchen forever, so I guess I do not mind wiping them down once every two weeks, I just use a rag and warm water, I dont use magic erasers anymore. 🙂

I never tire of a white kitchen. I had wood counters at our last house. We loved them! These are fabulous in the dark finish though. Yum!!

I actually prefer the BEFORE version of this kitchen. I am very much in the minority as I do not like stainless steel appliances. I do like white cabinets, and do a quick wipe of the cabinets as I do the supper dishes.

It’s a nice kitchen AFTER but it was pretty darn good to begin with. 😉

Defineitely love this one, too. Shelves, backsplash, stainless steel choice, flooring and small appliances. They did a Great Job!

Beautiful, although I prefer the microwave over the range to free up counter space.

I used to have wood-toned kitchen cabinets too. My mom thought I’d gone totally nuts when I said I was going to paint them! Hubby and I painted them a very soft yellowy-undertoned white and LOVED them! Several years later we painted again with an even whiter white and we loved them even more! As an interior decorator I see TONS of kitchens like your “before”. The clients often want to brighten up their kitchens but dang near die on the spot when I tell them to paint their cabinets! If only they’d see these wonderful transformations! I’m a white kitchen lover and never regretted painting mine 🙂 GREAT JOB on yours!
