Vanity Flair

Are you a vanity-using type of girl?  Or are you a stand-at-the-bathroom-counter-with-one-foot-in-the-sink-while-you-do-your-makeup type of girl?  That’s what I am. (The foot in the sink thing is weird, I know, I inherited that from my mom).  But I’ve never once sat at a vanity whilst applying my makeup; I guess I just prefer to stand.  How’s about you?  Sitter or stander?  I suppose I could pose this question to my male readers too, but we’d be talking about something else entirely.
ANYWAY, what I’m trying to say is, check out this fabulous vanity makeover from Melissa at Living Beautifully.  It just might convince you to take a seat!  Can you believe everything you see here — I’m talking accessories and all — was less than $50?!

I have always worried that using a vanity would make me vain and I’m much to proud of my humility to chance it.

If I was going to be a sitter I would of had to do that years ago. Now I need to see good, so have to get right up close and personal with the mirror so I don’t paint my cheek.

Pretty, but I’d have trouble getting my thighs under that vanity while sitting on that chair. And my thighs are not bad.

I always wanted a vanity but the lighting in my bathroom is better. I’m more of a standing and hovering over the sink while doing makeup kind of gal 🙂

I love your blog and read it everyday! I have always wanted to sit down for makeup. Never had the space. We just moved into a house (in Tucson, o neighbor to the north) in which the bathroom is so crowded and hideous, I just want to get in and get out! Our bathroom is the last renovation on the list, too. Enter my antique roll top desk. I sat down at it last Saturday while hubby was showering. (Movie night) Aha! the light and the ambiance are just perfect for makeup. So, I finally got my vanity. It was there all along. By the way, the desk was stripped and refinished without power tools by my mother when she was a teenager, for fun. That’s either weird or inspiring, depending on your point of view.

So pretty but I agree with the commenter above-my thighs wouldn’t stand a chance of fitting under that thing, haha! Maybe that’s why I prefer to stand?

Never had a vanity, so I stand. I would love one, but only if I could actually get close enough to see. NOBODY could get their thighs under this vanity with that chair. Maybe a lower stool with a little skirt??

I totally understand the foot in the sink. I started doing this but then ended up just sitting on the counter with both in the sink. So I guess I am a sitter, but not at a vanity. This is very cute! I will have to make one of these. I have the perfect spot. Now I have one more thing to hunt for in thrift stores.

I carry my makeup in a bag and do it wherever and whenever I can. Of course it makes me look odd sometimes if the lighting isn’t right. Anyway, If I had that vanity set, I’d probably use it. But it is so pretty I might just stare at it. I have really enjoyed your blog and I look forward to lots more inspiring pics.

Love your blog! I am so trying to picture the one foot in the sink! I don’t get it!?
I agree with Annette Martin I have sat with both feet in the sink to get closer to the mirror but only one foot seems like it would be awkward!! LOL! I have to admit I’m going to try it out!!! 🙂

Thanks for the positive comments. To those who doubt you would fit your legs under there, you actually can. Coming from a larger thighed girl, I fit under it perfectly- the chair really sinks in when you sit in it. Plus the depth of the vanity is so short, that you dont really need to sit that far under the table as it is 🙂 Thanks to those who liked our transformation! 🙂
