Anne Anews

Better After reader Anne sent me these pictures with a warning: they contain a lot of wood paneling.  She knows me well.  My stomach is doing the herky-jerky just looking at all that knotty wood.  I’m pretty sure even people who don’t suffer from a bizarre wood-phobia would feel uncomfortable in there, but boy howdy, not now!  She painted right over those panels and ripped down the ceiling tiles (only to reveal a wallpapered ceiling! ugh!) and now it looks brand new and 1000% non-creepy.  I love how she made that tiny window looks so big with strategic curtain placement too.  Thanks Anne!

Hello there. Does Anne have a blog or something?, because I have the same big problem with wood pannels, and I’m afraid It’s a massive task to tackle down, but this gave me hope. Martha B.

      Hi Martha,
I have to tell you that it was a pretty big job…. But well worth it. I’m really happy with how it turned out. Good luck!!

Personally i liked the original wood panelling. The after is so sterile, reminds me of a hospital. Sorry but that my opinion and I’m sticking to it.

      Hi Vanessa,
The dining set is from JCPenny. I’m really happy with it. It expands into a square shape to seat 8… Perfect for our smallish room and our love of entertaining. It was pretty inexpensive which is great cause we have 2 little kids and I would have a heart attack if I had to protect expensive furniture at every meal. Looks more expensive than it actually was and pretty sturdy too.

Thanks for the love ladies and thank you again for the feature Lindsey!! Our renovations have been a labor of love and have often threatened my sanity but it is so gratifying to walk in the front door and see the house we bought becoming the home we love.

I have two police officers in my family and love the Police Office one. I also like the Military ones. Thanks for thinking of those who serve. I also love the fruit scents like the Black Raspberry Vanilla!

Do you know what color pain she used on the paneling?
