Better After reader Anne sent me these pictures with a warning: they contain a lot of wood paneling. She knows me well. My stomach is doing the herky-jerky just looking at all that knotty wood. I’m pretty sure even people who don’t suffer from a bizarre wood-phobia would feel uncomfortable in there, but boy howdy, not now! She painted right over those panels and ripped down the ceiling tiles (only to reveal a wallpapered ceiling! ugh!) and now it looks brand new and 1000% non-creepy. I love how she made that tiny window looks so big with strategic curtain placement too. Thanks Anne!

January 16, 2012 at 11:43 PMHello there. Does Anne have a blog or something?, because I have the same big problem with wood pannels, and I’m afraid It’s a massive task to tackle down, but this gave me hope. Martha B.

January 17, 2012 at 1:24 PMPersonally i liked the original wood panelling. The after is so sterile, reminds me of a hospital. Sorry but that my opinion and I’m sticking to it.

January 17, 2012 at 2:19 PMI love that dining table set! Where did she purhcase it?

January 17, 2012 at 6:59 PMHi Vanessa,
The dining set is from JCPenny. I’m really happy with it. It expands into a square shape to seat 8… Perfect for our smallish room and our love of entertaining. It was pretty inexpensive which is great cause we have 2 little kids and I would have a heart attack if I had to protect expensive furniture at every meal. Looks more expensive than it actually was and pretty sturdy too.

January 17, 2012 at 7:08 PMThanks for the love ladies and thank you again for the feature Lindsey!! Our renovations have been a labor of love and have often threatened my sanity but it is so gratifying to walk in the front door and see the house we bought becoming the home we love.
