Oblongs on the Blog

This dining set was in great condition, but you know what?  So is that denim jacket you bedazzled in high school.   Same principle applies here.  You wouldn’t wear outdated clothes just because they still fit, so why adorn your rooms in the same manner?  If it doesn’t suit who you are today, it doesn’t deserve space in your home!

And actually, this table was in worse shape than the picture reveals.  Lots of water stains and damage and gunk. Which is probably why Meg from Meg and Mum’s scored it for $60!  Woah. She updated it with a slightly distressed white and a simple gray fabric that really shows of the shape of the chairs instead of hogging all the attention like before.  Extra bonus: the little claw feet are more noticeable too!

What’s that?  You want some more oblong table goodness?  Then check out this table that went from weathered oak to weathered oak, which, as anyone can see, is way cooler.  Chalk paint strikes again! Get the rundown from Sarah on her blog Modern Country Style

Thanks for the feature Lindsey! I’m still tempted to bring it back inside and use it for myself, but I would very likely fall to the floor in a crumpled sobbing heap if I saw one of my kids grubbying it up 🙁

It came out really cute. And I’m not a fan of white furniture. Perhaps I would have given the cushions a bit more pop of color. Still a nice job though. I love the feet.

    Hi Lindsey,

Thank you so much for the feature. I’ll be doing a happy dance all day!

I’m so thrilled with the way the table looks – particularly the new weathered oak finish. The top before was so uuugh!

Love this. I never though about putting an indoor table set outside. I am going to start looking now. Thank you.
