Don’t you want to stay in this plush guest room? Look, there’s a mattress-shaped block of wood and a couple of pillows and what might be a cozy pile of cats!
Heather knew there was potential in here, so she evicted the cats (or possibly a jacket, but who can tell?) added a real bed and a less toxic paint color, but the carpet was beyond repair. So she ripped it out and painted chevrons right on the sub-floor! She says, “It actually turned out pretty amazing, and people can’t even tell that it’s the particle board.” I concur!

July 7, 2011 at 10:43 PMHeather is a genius and a visionary! I am so going to do this in at least one room in my house. If I can’t have new carpeting installed then I’ll uninstall the old stuff. And it’ll be great! Old carpeting really runins the effort of decorating above it!
Three cheers for Heather and an extra three for Lindsey, too, for posting this possibility!
Hope for Love and Kindness
July 8, 2011 at 3:52 AMThank you so much ladies, you are tooooo sweet! and a special thanks to Lindsey for featuring my room on her blog!!!!!….there goes a check on my bucket list!!! LOL. @Katie: I got the mirror at Hobby Lobby! (50% off–heck yeah!).
@Martha: You made my day, thank you! Go for it!…I never thought it would turn out like it did, but I can’t believe a project I tried actually worked for once, haha! (The key is sanding down the particle board, and then you’ll want to put multiple layers of poly on it. You can google the steps, or email me at hileymarie@hotmail.com if you want anymore information). Thanks again Lindsey for featuring my room on your blog!!!

July 8, 2011 at 2:57 PMBeautiful transformation. The only thing that woulda made it better was painting that nightstand. The wood color needs to be WHITE! Just sayin. But I do sorta wanna run and jump into that bed with that ginormous puffy blanket on the end.

July 9, 2011 at 3:27 AMYou should see my pile of cats! They are both huge and their fur balls are the size of hamsters. Luckily for our hamster he lives in a cage or he’d be swept up with them. j/k
Keep up the funny commentary.
