Jen’s Gem

The previous owners of Jen’s home had … interesting taste. Their choice to combine brown cabinets, thick white trim and ketchup colored walls was … unique. Or, if I’m being undiplomatic, that thing was ugly with a capital Ugh. Jen to the rescue!

She saw the potential here and with a few coats of paint gave this room a whole new identity, an identity that now includes words such as “pretty” and “ooooh!” and also “aahhh!” I think she might have mixed some Miracle-Gro in that paint, because it looks twice as big. Check out more on her blog Altogether Persuaded. Thanks Jen!

Amazing! My husband and I have been looking at homes with our agent and I can feel SO overwhelmed by the UGLY that I don’t even think about the potential!

I will admit right now that my kitchen is VERY similar to the ‘before’ picture. I realized my mistake (I will say ‘transgression’ instead of ‘sin’ b/c I didn’t understand what I was doing!) and I want to change it so badly. Unfortunately DH is NOT of the same mind. ugh.

The transformation is amazing! Check out the perceived space gained as you’re looking at the green-doored island toward the window! Who knew there was so much room back there?

But the jewels that really caught my eyes were the light fixtures! The blue fluted globes are genius! And that beautiful fixture over the dining table is FABULOUS!

Thank you so much for this beauty today. Now I have to go and paint the halls in my mother’s house. It is not nearly as fabulous as your kitchen. Sigh.

While I can’t say I hate the before, it definitely made the kitchen a lot smaller. Perhaps the previous owners could have chosen an accent wall, haha. Anyway, the white in the new one makes it look ten times bigger, it’s beautiful!

I am totally impressed at how much bigger that kitchen looks! Our cabinets are old and brown and our kitchen is tiny. I never would have thought to go with white counter tops, too! Great idea.
