Whether to Weather

This table was just fine. Not like some of the befores that roll through here, half decomposed with worm holes, modge-podge, burn scars, or a terrifying combination of each. But maybe she looked a little too fine.
She needed some roughening up. A little more character.

She needed her shiny silver burnished and some weathering up top, and that’s exactly what she got from Leslie over at The DIY Diaries. Check out her blog for an up close look at the texture on the tabletop, it turned out really cool!

Hi Lindsey. This table turned out great!

Do you mind if I pick your brain for a minute? I just got a great sewing cabinet and don’t know where to start refinishing it. As far as color goes I’m afraid black just attracts way to much dust especially with that a sewing machine tends to kick up. So any idea’s as far as color and finish? What about sealer so the paint doesn’t clip? Also can you give me an idea where to start? Do I sand and do I have to get every nook and cranny? In other words do you have a step-by-step tutorial. ha-ha. I just hate to ruin this ugly but useful piece of furniture.
You can see the cabinet here:

    Thanks so much. Hugs…Tracy 🙂
