What are you doing this weekend? Any big plans? If not, here’s something to think about. What is the first thing you see when you enter the house? Not your guests who ring the doorbell out front, YOU.
If you’re like many people, you probably enter your home through the garage. Maybe you pass through a mud room, pantry, or laundry room. Why shouldn’t that space be welcoming and beautiful too?
Emily from Frilly Details thought so. So she turned her ugly walk-through laundry room into an inviting area that says “Hello! I’m so glad you’re home!” I would smile walking into this room every time.
So think about fixing something up just for you. Maybe a closet that no one else will ever see, or the inside of the doorway from the garage. It’s your home after all, help it make you happy!

February 19, 2010 at 10:47 PMLoving this inspiration. I just had to replace my washer and dryer (with yummy front loaders). I stacked them to create more space but was left with holes in the walls from the old shelving. This laundry room is great inspiration!! I’m ready to get started on my project now!

February 20, 2010 at 6:23 AMCome to think of it, I’ve never lived in a home where I entered through a garage or laundry room. But a big welcome is a wonderful thing -very nice!

February 20, 2010 at 12:07 AMI would like to be welcomed by that view. Gorgeous. It’s amazing what a little lamp can do, aside from the warmth of the pretty, pretty countertops. Love it!

It’s easy to get an outlet in your laundry room. There should already be on there for the washer and dryer. You just need an electrician (of someone who knows what they’re doing) to run an extra one off of that one for you.
I like that the extra counter is practical, too. She can use it to fold laundry!
