Happy Valentine’s Day lovers! I know, I know, it’s not until tomorrow, but I’m here to help you … get in the mood. (eyebrow waggle)
And what says “Happy Love Day” better than a blush-colored dresser makeover topped off with little gold heart knobs? The only other improvement I can think of is perhaps dipping it in chocolate. (wink)
See more at Jessica’s blog Dear Emmeline.
But seriously, these knobs need to come live at my house.

February 13, 2014 at 7:59 AMThe after makes me weep a bit because the wood grain would’ve been so gorgeous had it been restored. To each his/her own though, right?

February 13, 2014 at 8:16 AMI was scrolling down and admiring the wood and thinking how absolutely gorgeous it would be restored. I thought, “OH, I really hope she didn’t paint that…Oh, too bad.”

February 13, 2014 at 8:20 AMNot opposed to painting furniture but this piece would have been stunning restored…

February 13, 2014 at 8:30 AMI have a piece very similar to this waiting to be painted.
For those who were worried about destroying that beautiful wood grain, it may have already been lost. The gorgeous wood is a very thin veneer over basic plywood and (at least on mine) has pulled up and significantly chipped in many places. We’re talking like 2 inch gouges near the bottom and smaller ones around the detail work.
Unfortunately, I don’t know how else to fix something like that using a whole lot of wood putty and a coat of paint. I’m going to try to save what I can, but it’s a whole lot harder than it sounds.
I think she did a great job! I love the gold!

February 13, 2014 at 8:36 AMSo sweet! The gold and blush are so delicate. (I love the “eyebrow waggle,” I couldn’t resist doing it myself as soon as I read it)

February 13, 2014 at 9:19 AMWhile I agree that this could have been gorgeous if the wood could have been restored, I love it painted. The blush color and gold detailing are beautiful.

February 13, 2014 at 10:27 AMThose heart knobs are quite possibly the most darling thing I’ve ever seen! I need some in my life STAT! I love the pink and gold color combination she used! While I don’t always love painting over gorgeous wood grain, I also love seeing beautiful paint jobs and this one is just DREAMY 🙂

February 13, 2014 at 1:15 PMThanks so much for the feature Lindsey! Andrea was spot on about the condition of this piece. It was a freebie off the road which took some drawer reconstruction but the thin veneer that was peeling in quite a few places could not be easily fixed. 🙁 The multi-tone veneer and pattern on the front would have been beautiful to keep though if I had veneer skills!

February 14, 2014 at 2:40 AMI too think this would have been much better just cleaned up and restored so the beautiful wood grain showed through!! I’m not generally opposed to painting wood but did you see how beautiful this wood was???

February 17, 2014 at 11:05 AMEven unable to be restored, I prefer the beat up version. Just cleaned and it could have been beautiful, warts and all. 🙂 But, to each their own.
