Chin Up

If you came up to me and said, “Hey Lindsey, would you rather do some exercise on a rickety old chip-up contraption built during the Eisenhower era or sit on my front porch?” I am 99.99% certain I would say “Front porch.”
Who needs chin-ups anyway? I believe they are the most worthless exercise in existence, and no, that is not my inner second-grader talking who was humiliated by her P.E. teacher in front of the whole class because she could only do two chin-ups, like seriously who makes second graders do chin-ups, why not make them memorize the Constitution backwards while you’re at it?!? Ahem.
Kudos to Jeremy for hacking up this dumb thing into a cute bench topped with .99 Ikea cushions! Much better!

Patterns

Here’s a couple more great redos from Pattern, Tinsley’s decorative-finish business located in Georgia.

I think the refinish on this bookshelf was just perfect, the unusual shape really lends itself to the darkness and intensity of the finish she chose. It’s almost medieval-ishy, it reminds me of a knight in shining armor!
Also love the bathroom vanity redo, it definitly needed some love, and now it looks amazing! Thanks for sharing Tinsley!

Splinter-Fest to Party Dress

Last summer my son set up a lemonade stand and made about $20 in half an hour! That got my wheels a-churnin… would it be weird if I set up a lemonade stand at the end of my driveway? $40 an hour is no joke, yo!
If I ever decide to put my son out of business and start my own lemonade stand, I would borrow Emma’s table here.
What I would have seen as deadly splinter factory, Emma saw as potential. She took in this weathered table and chair, loved them up and turned them into something spectacular! I can see myself now, sitting in that lovely chair, raking in the quarters and dimes. Check out more on her blog Pransellknit.

Pretty Painless

This kitchen was probably designed by some sadistic person who enjoyed watching people shield their eyes in pain whenever they entered.
“I’ll make the drapes match the wallpaper, then contrast them hideously with the olive green counters and appliances, mwah ha ha haha!”
“Then I’ll directly center all the cabinet handles and clap my hands with glee at the resulting confusion over which way to swing them open, tee hee!”
Nikki wasn’t having that, so she attacked this grim kitchen with nothing more than cheerful paint choices and artful accessories. It looks so happy and fun! It even makes the olive appliances look all kicky and retro, like that’s exactly what she wanted in that space. Great job Nikki! Check more out on her blog fancy*that.

Terri Smith Photo

I am happy to leave you this weekend with some beautiful images to gaze at from our newest sponsor, Terri Smith Photo!

Terri is a photographer based in Florida, who specializes in just about everything. Engagements, weddings, bellies, babies; she can pretty much document your entire life, and do so
beautifully!

She says, “I graduated from Florida State University with two degrees from the business school. While pursuing these degrees, I also enrolled in photography classes to keep my sanity.

After graduation, I went on to work for a software company and continued my passion for getting a great image.

It was not until my husband (then boyfriend), purchased my first DSLR as a present that I was hooked! On him and the camera. Even though I love the darkroom and all the chemical smells, there is nothing like the instant gratification of digital photos.

I continue my education in photography every day.

She is amazing! She also allegedly married a computer genius/male model. Check and check!
I love that she offers home photography too. Perfect for documenting all the hard work you put into making your baby’s nursery picture perfect:

Or even if you are trying to sell your home. You know those horrible pictures that people take for real estate sites? That show like, half of a dark bathroom with the toilet seat up?

Well, Terri is out to change that. How quickly would your home sell with pictures like this to show it
off?

Gorrrrrrrrrrrgous! Head on over to her site Terri Smith Photo to see more! They are so lovely, I’m seriously considering using them as my desktop wallpaper!
