Hutch Much?

Hutch, china cabinet, breakfront, place where my grandma keeps her Precious Moment figurines — whatever you call it, here are a few tasty hutchy makeovers for you.
First up, this redo is deep, dark and mysterious! Makes me crave chocolate! Not that I like my chocolate to be mysterious, I usually prefer that it is mystery-free. Check it out on Andrea’s blog Try This!

Pay no attention to the fuzzy before picture and feast your eyes instead on this lovely cherries and cream after. (forgive me, I’m just trying to keep the food theme going here) I love, love the two-toned look she has going on and I’m not sure what she used to line the back, but it kind of looks like galvanized steel. Neato! From Sharley at Doubletake Decor.

Can’t go wrong with white, especially when your dishes that do all the talking. Lynne from Pretty, Now So Pretty redid this hutch to show off her grandmother’s apple green dish collection, and it couldn’t be sweeter! They would have never looked as great against the old hutch, am I right homesnake?

Ack, this one is just gorgeous. The navy, the gold accents, the white dishes… perfection. It looks so regal! It totally makes me stop thinking about what in the heck those blob things are on the shelves in the before pic! But seriously, I love. From Mallory at Classy Clutter.

Just bad and ugly. Then good!

The knotty cabinetry and frontier-style light fixture made this kitchen feel country. A little too country. Like, “chuckwagon on the prairie” country. But wait! With the addition of that old Vegas casino carpeting (carpet or linoleum? Can’t tell, but tragic either way) you have potential for some memorable themed dinner parties!

Lone Ranger Roulette! Annie Get Your Run! Little Full House on the Prairie!

As fun as that sounds to me, I’m sure Heather is enjoying her sleek, classy kitchen much more. It looks like a completely different kitchen in a completely different era of time. Check out the progress on her blog simple.beautiful.home. Thanks Heather!

Pinky Promise

Lindsey had one pink bedroom and two little boys. Clearly that equation wasn’t going to work out. Something had to go. Luckily for her (and CPS), she decided to keep the kids and give the pepto-pink wall the boot instead.

I love all the details she’s filled this room with, from the banners to the artwork to the curtains (oh drop cloth, you never cease to amaze me!) Most of this was handmade or hand-me-down, and she’s pulled it together so nicely. Check out more on her blog HERE. Thanks Lindsey!

Reimagine All The People…

I hereby offer you a challenge, dear readers. This weekend, if you’ve got nothing else going on, why don’t you head to Goodwill or hit some yard sales and find something in desperate need of a makeover? But that’s not all, the challenge is to repurpose it!

Take a cue from Brandi who took a dresser and made a vanity! Or added legs to a squatty 70’s end table and made a nightstand! Ok? OK! Why the heck not?

See more on her blog Brandi Nell the Southern Belle.

Foiled!

Oh no she di-int!
Yes, she did. It’s true. Mandi from Vintage Revivals covered her nightstand in tinfoil. But that’s not even the crazy part. The crazy part is it looks awesome!
As I scrolled through her post HERE and watched the transformation, I was pretty sure it was going to end up looking like my high school notebook from Spanish class. The class wherein instead of conjugating verbs, I spent the entire semester sitting in the back, peeling gum wrappers apart and decoupaging the cover of my notebook and writing super cheesy poems inside. In English. Sorry Señor Hall.
But it looks nothing like that, it looks like weathered tin or something equally vintagey and cool. Great job Mandi!

Sweet Sewing Space

What I love most about this redo is how just about anyone could do this. I mean, unless you are missing both thumbs or something, pretty much anyone should be able to find a couple of mismatched pieces of furniture, attack them with paint and their favorite fabrics, and TA-to-the-DA!! A cute, colorful, customized workspace.
Check out Kim’s blog What am I going to be when I grow up? for more on this little sewing desk she made for her daughter, including info on her lovely fabric choices. Thanks Kim!
